(CNN) -- A gunman shot three people in a hospital parking lot Thursday in Fernandina Beach, Florida, killing one before he committed suicide outside a school, officials said.
Nassau County Sheriff Tommy Seagraves said the gunman opened fire at Baptist Medical Center Nassau around 11 a.m., shooting three people, one fatally, then headed to Emma Love Elementary School, where he shot and killed himself outside.
"We believe at this point that it's possibly domestic-related. All parties have a relation in some way," he said.
The two wounded were flown to Shands Jacksonville Hospital. Jacksonville is about 25 miles south of Fernandina Beach.
No students were hurt at the school, which was immediately locked down, according to Seagraves.
"At no time did we feel that the children were in any threat or danger," he said.
Sandra Loper, a teacher's aide, told WJXT that the students were locked into rooms after gunfire was heard outside, according to The Associated Press.
"The front of the school is glass, so I imagine that somebody could have seen it," AP quoted Loper as saying.
