I hate dentist bills and feel like I ain't never going to get them paid off...oh well it's only another day in paradise right?
I hate wasps We are constantly fighting them with the high gabels at our house. I am thinking about just using a pressure washer to get rid of the next that the spray won't reach. High pressure water should do the trick on wasps. Or maybe just make them mad enough to sting me. (again)
I really like 1911's. Too bad I can't shoot them with the .45

A PITA client in FL called for technical assist, kept me on the phone for 4 hours, then thinks he knows the answer to his own questions so he ignores my advise, deletes files I repeatedly told him not to, blames me for not saving him from himself and yells at me that I just ruined the last 24 hours of work he did. I spend another 2 hours off phone trying to work around his mistakes, he calls back and says he'll just copy what he deleted from someone else and he knows it wasn't my fault afterall - all is forgiven. Next day he send me a nasty email complaing that I don't accept Paypay and that he has to trouble himself with sending me a check.
Some days its harder to earn a living than others.

Sorry RightHand but that's a surefire way to start me off on a migraine.
Strange because I can eat Vietnamese food and dip it in their sauce - and that has vinegar in it (go figure). But I can't handle the smell of any vinegar food or other type of dressing with vinegar in it anywhere.

DSL's speed depends on distance from the CO, or Central Office. ADSL, so called because it has more channels downstream than upstream. uses the original unshielded twisted pair of copper wires that formerly only carried a 56 Kb/s (Kilo bits per second) telephone conversation. The POTS uses voice frequencies, 0 to 4000 Hertz, and the ADSL uses higher frequency multiples of the baseband frequencies. ADSL can actually provide the user with that same 1.544 Mb/s data rate, and depending on noise and distance, can theoretically approach 8 Mb/s. Cable is also dependent on noise, distance, and number of users. At peak times, users have to share bandwidth.
TLynn
08-07-2005, 08:42 PM
Then I guess I must be lucky ghostrider. Because in the 2 years I've been on cable I've yet to have had slow times. And I'm only on 1/4 T (most times I upload and download at 1/2 T capability).

I have one - I just don't know where I put it...
Kind of like the time I lost my Beretta for 6 months. I knew it had to be in the bedroom (or at least I thought it had to be). Just wasn't sure where).
That's why when somebody asks me how many guns (or knives) I own I can honestly say I don't have a clue. Because I know for a fact that if I tell them one thing - another one will turn up where I least expect it to.

Valkman, I have a walk in closet that was built for me after we did the room addition. I've had the closet oh about 2 yrs now. In that time I think I've rearranged it 4 times and now I've totally torn everything out of it (almost killing myself in the process by dropping heavy stuff on top of me - yes do not do things without help), and am in the process of rebuilding the interior from the ground up.
I was amazed at the stuff I found - gun stuff that I had thought was lost.
Can't wait till the next garage clean out.

E.L. - I keep telling myself that as well. I did find the Beretta 92F after misplacing it for 6 months, along with the Enfield (that was only missing for a little over a year).
Never did find my sisters telephone (first portable phone this house had ever seen). Only God, Budha (or the cats) know where it disappeared to. Had to go out and pay $200 for a new one and send it to her when she got back from Japan.
And then there was the foxtail keychain with all my keys on it. Car keys, truck keys, work keys...sigh...you'd think it would be too big to lose. But no Teresa just had to lose it as well.
Talk about bummed out. Thank god I had an extra set of keys (well except for work).
We could go on but it doesn't get any better, only worse.
I do hope you find those kershaws though.
The great thing about Kershaw knives are that they are cheap enough to replace. I really liked the Rainbow Leek though. I am going to have to order another. I actually bought two last year for Christmas presents for friends.

Sheesh, I wish I had enouph guns to misplace them. lol Actualy that would be a VERY bad thing if I did misplace them anyway. I ALWAYSE know the location and status (loaded or not, etc) of all my guns. Once when I had a room mate one of his friends moved one of my guns, when I walked in my room and they wernt in place I went through the place searching behind and under furniture and appliances. Realy freaked out the person who was laying on the couch when I grabbed one end of it at lifted it 5' up to check under it and they slid to the other end. Once they saw the 'displeasure' on my face though they chose not to say much. Finaly found them under a waterbed frame with a normal matress.
I get REAL protective of my guns, have had to many stolen when I lived in the city and they tend to be my pride and joy.

Would you go for me being a bit scatterbrained at times? Actually, just not enough room & too much stuff at the time (in regard to the guns). They weren't actually lost, just so deeply buried I didn't remember exactly where. They did turn up (I knew they would). Just like the bolt to one of my rifles - I will never, ever, seperate a bolt from a rifle again.
It's the other things that once they disappear I tend not to see again.

Why is a mouse what when it spins?
My day(s)? How frustrating it is when a "simple" little project envelopes entirely too much time! :|
I dunno, 'swhy I ast. Might be happy and dancing because the Catscratcher 2000 took care of the last cat. Might be it was hit with a stray pellet from a shotgun and still hasn't fallen over. Might be spinning because it got caught in a dust devil. Still don't know why. Seems a bit nonsensical, right up there with studies of management systems. Whaddaellameye, an oracle, 'er sumpin'?
But I painted it blue.
Simple projects? Ah, yes, am familiar. How about hanging a shower curtain rod and hitting a sheet rock nail with three out of four screws into the wall?

I was walking to the kitchen for some Golden Grahams and accidently stepped into an alternate dimension.
Alternate reality or time-space-continuum.
Windows shut, ac on.
Thought of the day: "Why did the baby wake up three times early this morning?
Second thought of the day: "How did I sleep through it all?"
Third thought of the day: "My poor little wife."
Oh well.

The Federal Government is what makes a tomato fruit. They decided that back in either the late 1800's or the early 1900's I forget which. I believe it was the Supreme Court in fact.
You did ask melbo.
Don't believe me - look it up. (Of course you never know I could be lying). [peep]

I don't remember the exact story but it had to do with Latin American imports of fruit.Fruit imports were subject to an import tax. They started importing tomatos and claimed a tax exemption because they were a veggie. No veggie tax on the books at that time. The Gov. had to close the loophole so they could get the money.I believe you're right in that it went to the supreme court, where tomatos were ruled to be a fruit.Got to get every dime they can.

Why do we keep using the word Democracy for our government when we are still theoretically a constitutional republic?
Though of late I'm thinking more and more that we're a semi benign dictatorship.

Give it time Quigley and you too will have high speed internet. Though I hate to tell you if you get DSL it'll never quite compete with cable [peep]
Just hooked up the Boy's network in his Dorm. Pulled a speed test from www.toast.net and ...WOW!!! 4.7mb... Off the chart. UT network must be sitting on a T3? In '89, we didn't have hi-speed hookups in the Dorm. My "New" system had a 2600 modem. I was the envy of the dorm...

A T3 is 28 T1s, with framing bits and overhead, it's about 44.840 Mb/s.
Another possibility would be fiber or a hybrid fiber system.

He was 2 lbs over yesterday and if he doesn't make his weight class today, he would have to move up from juniors to seniors which his mom won't let him do - then he'd be the low end of their wt. class. Too dangerous. He loves his football (as I do) and he's really good so we're all keeping our fingers crossed. PS - Coach recommended a laxative which I think is outrageous suggestion for a 9 yr. old.

Cool! I was told I was too big to carry the ball when I started playing Boys Club Football when I was in the 4th grade. Apparently someone put a huge back in the backfield and they just walked all over ppl. So I had to play with a big black X on my helmut so the ref's knew I couldn't carry the ball. Well, Come On Generals, Let's Move Fast;
Your Big Chance Has Come At Last.
Now You Can Go Out And Get Those Reds
'Cause The Only Good Commie Is The One That's Dead

Why is it that medical industry charges those who can afford it most the least and those who can afford it least the most? If you go to the ER (as my mom did a few months back) and have insurance the bill was $7,000 , the insurance company only had to pay $700 and the bill was considered paid in full, but with no insurance the bill would have been higher and every penny would be demanded. Scripts that cost insurance companies $5 will cost a person haveing to pay cash from thier pocket $50+
Why are some collectors to stupid to comprehend that slow pay is better than no pay? Last time I ended up in the ER (no insurance) they sent me a bill for $800 for nothing more than a script and a splint (no tests or xrays) and I let them know that at the time I was makeing about $80/week and had to pay bills out of that but could guarentee them $20/month and was informed that they would not accept payments of less than $100/month, that was over a year ago and they havent seen a dime from me nor will they now even if I hit the lottery. If you are not at all interested in a certain topic, I think you can hit "ignore topic" and iwon't show in yopur unread list. I've managed to stay on top of it so far but I think that at some point that will be out the window.

Yeah, but you don't sleep. Another thing I wish I could do without. It's a bitch setting priorities based on needing naps. Geez, what a choice, learn or sleep.

NOT a good thought, have seen WAY to many lives of decent folks go down the tubes over that crap more so than crack, heroine and any other drugs combined.

The drug of choice is caffiene. I find that 50 ozs a day isn't enough to do more than make me pee more than I like. It's a balancing act; peeing also takes away learning time. Jeez, life is tough --

Crap. Motor overheated yesterday afternoon while shopping at Wal-Mart. I had my truck tools in the wife's truck, and she had her phone in her purse set on vibrate. [big wink] [big wink] So I finally get ahold of her, she is in town and picks up a new thermostat for me. Then she tells me that she took the tools out while cleaning the p/u. [big wink] So I head in to Wal-Mart and buy a $17 tool set with sockets, no problem I could always use another. Then I find out that the sockets are not deep enough. [big wink] Back inside to buy a deep socket set. $14+. Then back outside where I rip the sockets out, crap! They are SAE and I need metric. [big wink] So I go back inside and buy a set of metric deep sockets to get the thermostat housing off $14+. It's hot too. Finally get the old thermostat out and the new one in at about 2115 hours. Okay, head for home. About two miles down the road it gets hot again. Crap. Might be a cracked block. Needless to say after driving a little ways, then turning it off to cool down over, and over, and over. I get home at midnight. I think it's toast. With only 213K on it. $hit! [pssd] Just what I needed. I hadn't planned on buying a new one until Jan.

Well, I would if I was off. I am working today, and will be working tomorrow and Monday also. The work of the public servant is never finished it seems.

Just think tho'. All those extra hours will add up to a nice down payment on a new rig that will cost too much to gas up. What a predicament. Nearly there myself, old rig had 200K on it and the rated milage on the new comparable ones is lower. Hang on, baby, just a little while longer -- :eek

Geez and I've still got my 1970 Ford 4x4 with only 125,000 miles on it.
Yeah I know I don't drive it enough...but at 12 mpg would you? Then again it's a work truck not a toy like so many I see these days. I can actually load a 8 foot piece of lumber in it and close the tail gate with no lumber hanging out (or over) the tailgate. Unlike 95% of the pickups I see today. That also goes for a sheet of sheetrock. It does fit flat in the bed.
I love my old truck.
I do not love heavy bags of concrete, nor digging up old fence posts, or digging up tree roots, or shoveling concrete around new fence posts.
My back, arms, wrists are killing me.
Guys and gals - I suggest you never get old (the alternative right now almost but not quite looks good). :eek

I am out of shape too, lol. Perhaps that is why I like it. I like challenges, physical and mental. Yesterday my boss's wife's car died. I was ready to push it around the block to the North Bay and push it into the warehouse:) 95 Lexus SC400...damn thing is heavy. I did manage to manhandle the 16' cargo trailer enough to get it in the East Bay:D
EL Hope your truck thing works out and yeah I am sorry about you having to work.

That's awful nice of you to want to do that magnus (push your bosses wife's car). I've done that and paid the price. Nowadays I just call the tow truck, that's what my insurance is for (even on my old 4x4).
Well, it looks like I will be getting that Gerber Mk II knife, and no Valkman no comments about if I can afford it I can afford your knives. This is strictly for a friend back east who wanted one. You hear that swine!!! You're more important than a handmade knife!
I'm doubting he reads this particular thread so I might be safe. Then again he might read it in which case I'm deader than dead [peep]
Either way it'z all good - it probably will hurt less being dead than my body does now....
Definitely a long hot shower, maybe do some push ups (yeah right - no wait more punishment - good for the soul!!!)
Okay I've got to quit going to starbucks and having four shots of espresso...not a good sign after 5pm at night...sigh

Probably, oh heck most guys are better built than I am for pushing cars around. But then again you just might be surprised what I can do when I put my mind to it (well when I was younger anyway).
Yeah, it does suck. I might get lucky on my Z, I am hoping it is just a radiator problem, but I am expecting the worse. I flushed it with water today, and tomorrow I am going to take it off after work and really flush it, then replace hoses, etc. Irregardless I have decided to fix it. It has been good to me, and still gets good mileage for a p/u, especially a 4x4. Besides, I would rather not have another vehicle payment. That leaves more $$$.
Maybe next weekend Magnus. I really do need to do some shooting. I also have one more feeder to out out. The hogs are hitting the corn right now really hard.

After a horrendous day at a clients yesterday, left there place at 9pm last night after being there all day, got in my truck and brake pedal nearly touched the floor. They were fine on my trip over there in the morning. I drove home very, very slowly - about 20 miles of back country roads. I'll check the master cylinder this a.m. ????? I hope is isn't a brake line. I'm supposted to go back to the same client today to finish some tax deadline work. Taxes and vehicles - does it never end.

Well, its either a brake line or rear master seal. Added brake fluid, pumped the brakes, heard whoosh whoosh whoosh - had braking power, moved truck and found the rear passenger side axle wet with brake fluid and a puddle on the floor. Rats.

Real sorry to hear that RH - especially on Labor Day weekend and Sunday to boot. But yep, it's got to be the line or the rear cylinder, and considering where it's leaking probably most likely the rear cylinder. Oh wait are trucks done differently since you said seal? Used to be they had a small cylinder at each brake beside the master cylinder up front.
RightHand

Already checked front and rear master cylinders. I think its the seal but it may be the line.

I just got an absolutely AWSOME booklet that was found when cleaning out my uncles house. It is from the Morton salt co and copyrighted in 1950, its a 122 page magazine type booklet called 'Home meat curing made easy' and across the bottom says 'PORK-BEEF-LAMB-SAUSAGE' and on the back says 'Cured Meats...an important part of the home food supply'. This book covers in detail and with full photo illistration how to kill, butcher, cut, and cure critters to make meats that will keep as well as canning them, pickleing them, smokeing them and so much more.
What an awsome find! I contacted the co to see if it can still be obtained from them and will let you know what I find out.

Do you have a copy or would you need to borrow mine? I realy kind of doubt it is still published as it dose NOT get PC about it, as an example the pictures leave nothing to be imagined and it discourages killing the animals prior to bleeding them and prefors for beef and pork to stun them then bleed them and for lambs and such sugests just holding them down and cutting the throat. I kind of think by todays standards it would be a bit to brutal for a company to put out to advertise how to use thier products.

Definately would need yours unless there is a Library of Congress number I can use to dig it out locally. If the pages are larger than 8-1/2 by 11, I'll have troubles, but I can do it. The only thing that concerns me very much is the copyright.
