Ok, so tonight I hear we are sending a ground based missile defense system to Hawaii.....Hmmmmmmm
"JUST-IN-CASE" those north koreans Taephongdongy rockets with an estimated range of 4,000 miles, "might" be able to reach that far!
    ??? DUH ya think?
They are expected to launch one on July 4th....
I have no idea of the time differences and not really concerend about even looking it up, I wonder IF "they" know ???
It would be a real let down to have them launch it on the 3rd or the 5th, not having accurately estimated the times zones.....
(reminds me of the mars crash, where someone forgot to convert from Metric to SAE!)
Ah, but then I digress.....as older folks are prone to do.....
So, just maybe, WE all get a real 4th of JULY bang, maybe with a mushroom type cloud, far up, or maybe it will miss and land in some pineapple plantation?
Either or, it may send out a bit of emp.....
I wonder IF anyone in the U.S. is taking this egomaniacal psycho for real, or they are just playing it all off.....?
May just be a concern after all....China can NO longer get their moronic comrade under control, and Russia was relying on China to do it....
I hope this dosen't get UGLY!

I think you are completely right about being concerned about all this. From an "old swabbie" who hasn't really kept up with current U.S. Navy weapons systems capability for the last 15 years or so.... I still know .... there will be Boomers ready to do their thing (heaven hope it does come to that), and a good number of Aegis Platform surface ships standing by inbetween Korea and Hawaii. Aegis is absolutely awesome. Its like the difference between a manual non electric typewriter and file cabnet and... a Cray supercomputer. I don't think Korea could get a publicised missle shot thru to Hawaii. I think if they tried they "might" pay a terrible price for trying. But, with todays Washington Administration, who knows. They might want to just gather round the black smoldering glassy hole and sing "Cumbaya my lord". JMHO of course, but I will be watching closely also. Pray for the Nation. I do daily.

While I think it is posturing, it never hurts to be prepared.

Such an easy thing, shooting off a skyrocket, that even the little guy with a bad haircut can do it. Anyway, I can think of no better way to point out the fallacy of all the screaming about how the US is going to get hammered than by simply shooting his toy out of the atmosphere and saying nothing about it. A simple, silent message; a Teddy Roosevelt thing. And really, no need to followup to make a glassy desert of his launch site either, much less Pyongyang; there is no need for collateral damage. About the only thing worth doing would be to drop a few leaflets over the north with some pics of the toy getting wasted. I mean, if he can test a missile, we should be able to test an anti-missile, no?

And more: If our anti-missile doesn't work, we need say nothing. The glassy desert remains an option, even if a bit extreme. And, no need to point and laugh if his toy fails. His embarrassment on the world stage will shut him up for a few weeks.

Face it folks, there is no reason to go into a swivet over this pissant, and even less to go to DEFCON whatever. We have more ways to swat a fly than there are flies. For one, I am far more concerned with other nations intents and means than I am with this one.

Yep, even the funky little dude with the bad hair can't be insane enough to 'poke the bear' to that extent. I can see him launching one of his glorified bottle rockets to make a political point, have the dummy warhead come down close to Hawaii. But to launch a warshot...... that would be suicide for him - he had better realize that.

 But what is really apt to happen is that the tie fongi thingi becomes a shower of whatever it's made of, someplace over open ocean. Eventually, the fact of a successful shoot down will become public, but it will be after the shooting ship hits port. Just ain't no way Gates is going to let it come into range of HI, even if it can.

The missile is not supposed to be armed. It is reported to be a "test launch". What that means is it is designed to be a demonstration of his missile's capabilities for any potential buyer (i.e. Iran). Still, if Barack does the right thing and blasts it out of the Pacific sky, my estimation of him will go up. Slightly. I personally think we should knock it down before it has a chance of testing any significant range.

As far as the cargo ship headed to Myanmar, my opinion is that there are no weapons on board. Kim wants us to board the ship so he can show the world what bullies we are. He is deliberately trying to entice us to board that ship, which I think we absolutely should do.

it would be wonderful, it would light up the night sky,of course the koreans might not like it,but they should have got rid of kimjong il themselves.i was thinkng massive conventional strike but nukes would sure teach that little dude about playing with bombs.....just venting...kinda.

I can't see B.O. doing anything even remotely ballsy. Maybe we could give Kim a good talking to instead.

Any letter of reprimand to Kim will simply be so much TP. Bobo is already spouting BS, but has NOTHING he can do that will do any good. Kim will just thumb his nose at Bobo and fling some poo.......
