i just finished reading One Second After: One Second After: William R. Forstchen, Newt Gingrich: 9780765317582: Amazon.com: Books by william r. forstchen. omewhere here at SM in the past someone said that this book was an outright rip off of Lights Out: David Crawford: 9780615427355: Amazon.com: Books I have read both, and no way do i agree. To say so is like saying of 2 murder mysterys, that one was a rip off of the other because in both stories a woman was killed with a gun. JMHO of course, but both books stand alone and are worth a read. One second after got to me emotionally much more than did Lights out. Read them both or not.
Re: One Second After vs Lights Out One Second After got to me as well, more than Lights Out. I kept thinking the whole way thru "this guy ( main character ) SHOULD have known better". If I had a kid with Type 1 diabetes, I'd have backups for insulin supply 10 layers deep......
Re: One Second After vs Lights Out Can you find "One Second After" online? Not that I can read it anytime soon, I am in the 2nd chapter of "Juvenile Delinquency The Core" and a few pages into "The Battle Of Mogadishu" by Matt Eversman and Dan Shilling.
Re: One Second After vs Lights Out I honestly am not sure. I put it on reserve before it was released to public at my local library. I read that hardback version. Kindle maybe.... I just don't know. just did google search. its available as an ebook and at kindle.
Re: One Second After vs Lights Out I can't find any reliable torrent trackers either. Maybe next month.
Re: One Second After vs Lights Out I have read both. "One Second After" is a professionally written and edited book with a forward by a very popular politician. "Lights Out" is written by an amateur, may or man not have been edited, is self published and distributed as a free PDF. While I enjoyed One Second After, I loved Lights Out and was more impressed with it. I would love to see a sequal to Lights Out or a movie based on it.
Re: One Second After vs Lights Out Still looking for a copy of One Second After. I too loved Lights Out! What a great story. Byte
Re: One Second After vs Lights Out Found this "Audio Book", try it you might like it http://www.zshare.net:80/download/697156339342d768/ one second after audio
Re: One Second After vs Lights Out Just finished "One Second After", and I've read Lights Out as well. I liked OSA better. Maybe it had more to do with the editing, I don't know, but the story seemed more realistic to me. Just my humble opinion. Both stories are great for making someone think "what would happen to me and my family if the lights did go out, permanently?" For me, it seems that after reading stories like this, even though they are fiction, it gets me to thinking more about my preps. Where I'm lacking, where I've focused too much on, etc. Now, If I can get my wife to read One Second After And since One Second After is published I don't think you'll find it online except either as an audio book, or to purchase a copy of it. Based on the reviews I had heard, I was more than happy to add the book to my library.
Re: One Second After vs Lights Out I know this is a major retro idea, but try your local library. I use the library system of Alachua County Florida. Headquartered in Gainesville. Major liberal lefty stronghold. Nine libraries in system scattered all over the county. I got both "Unintended Consequences" and "one second after" thru them. I was seriously tempted to steal "Unintended Consequences" and pay for the loss, as I have not been able to get my own copy. One second after is widely available.... see link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0765317583?ie=UTF8&tag=survivalmonke-20
Re: One Second After vs Lights Out Read both, and feel that both had merits. Lights out had a much better well thought out plan of action as each situation worked out. The Medical problems were highlighted more in OSA dealing with the diabetics, but over all I enjoyed Lights out as a well rounded, edge of the seat, can't wait to get back to reading story. OSA did not keep my attention as well but still think the author did a great job putting the story together. 5 stars for Lights out, 4 stars for OSA
Re: One Second After vs Lights Out . I to am confused with those prices. Did a quick amazon search and came up with this. <iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?lt1=_blank&bc1=000000&IS2=1&bg1=FFFFFF&fc1=000000&lc1=0000FF&t=survivalmonke-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&m=amazon&f=ifr&md=10FE9736YVPPT7A0FBG2&asins=0765317583" style="width:120px;height:240px;" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0"></iframe>
