I imagine that I am not the only one who, upon hearing the news this morning, thought the news reporters were joking when they announced that Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. This may be the very first time in the illustrious history of Alex Nobel's coveted prize that someone was awarded this honor not for something they have done but for something they have talked about. And then to hear the statement that Mr Obama is considered the definitive world authority on peace caused my stomach to churn, my heart to beat fast, and my head to pound. What truly frightens me is that this is confirming evidence of the power of this man's words and personality. Never before in my life have I felt such a sense of impending doom. On the brightside, since words as opposed to action are now obviously a valid basis for receiving this Peace Prize, I might just win on yet! You, too, have the same chance. If the ghost of Ed McMahon shows up at your door, he might be holding a Nobel rather than a PCH prize.

It demeans the importance of the award for the prior winners people like martin luther king,Desmond tutu and Mohatmas Ghandi(?NOT,scratch ghandi) now that its basically a political popularity contest.of course Gores award could be debated too... It's heartening to knowthis very topic is being similarly debated on sites across the'net even hardcore left blogs like huffington and kos.
