Scientist Michio Kaku explains the clockwork for a proposed 2012 event. Nasa missions have mapped two holes in the flux of the earth's magnetoshpere; and scientist are expecting larger than predicted solar ejections of radiation when the solar magnetic poles flip on their normal 11year cycle(2012). More radiation + less shielding equals possible loss of communications satellites, warming of the earths' core, dogs and cats sleeping together; real Wrath of god stuff... Re: start digging... I'm still waiting for the ice age predicted back in the late 60's or early 70's...? Now I have global warming, and penguins eating polar bears! Wonder what's next? Politicians telling the truth?...NOT!
Re: start digging... If we had a magnetic pole shift that would be catastrophic. We are still in Mercury retrograde that's enough.
Re: start digging... Magnetic pole shift was discussed earlier this past year is a group I belonged to (past tense) nothing good lasts forever! It was questioned IF this occurs, then all DC motors would run in reverse until rewired ? And all AC motors would remain unaffected? Seems logical..... Gonna be a disaster resetting all those compasses though!
Re: start digging... Earth's pole flipping won't affect motors, no fear there. The compass is gonna be permaf****d, so get your gps set up.
Re: start digging... it's the SUN's magnetic pole that flips on 11 year cycles, not the earth's , that happens like tens or hundreds of thousands of years. The sun flip causes crazy radiation that brought down the canadian grid a while back and would fry satellites and other electronics. Although I find it hard to believe that the MIL sats (gps network) wouldn't be shielded from this. If it was the earths pole that flipped, the compass would just point south instead of north, so it'd still work
Re: start digging... the pole shift that will occur in 2012 is massively backed by mainstream science and it is one that occurs every 26,000 years.....basically the earth spins with a slight wobble, and every 26,000 years the pendulum of that wobble heads back the other way.....THAT is the shift that is on it's way on dec 21 2012
Re: start digging... I saw some pics taken by an Aussie that showed the wobble without doubt. He had his compass out and took pictures of sunsets and sunrises that were not in the spots they should be. We are wobbling fiercely right now.
Re: start digging... Precisely. The myths must be destroyed once and for all. Sometimes I hate the internet. F**)%ing Gore!
Re: start digging... so the magnetic north pole IS NOT moving towards russia at a rate of 37 miles per year?
Re: start digging... Now, does this mean the desert will soon become a lush green forest? Or, will it go back to being covered with water once again? The whole plantary change would be strange I'll be willing to bet! Solar flares and activity, sure. it's more than possible....It's always been around, since we have! Magnetic pole shift...I have no idea! Just watched a few youtube videos..wow what a conglomeration of: yes, no, maybe, could be, to: we are all gonna die! The rabitts are coming hurray hurray! Worse than Elmer Fudd cartoons " shhh...be vewy vewy quiet, I'm hunting wabbits!
Re: start digging... Worst of all...does this mean the water in our toilets will change direction? [rofllmao] Byte PS Please o great sun god...don't burn me!
No one mentioned the massive solar flares expected. A peak in sun cycles is definitely due and the ham community is all excited because it means LD comm by bouncing off the ionosphere. But this is supposed to be worse than ever experienced in modern times. Just have to say though - the more they hype this stuff, the less I'm worried. The areas that are conspicuously silent (peak oil, food production down) are what worries me.

Here's a place to start (ocean bottom magnetology...), from there you can follow a link to see the south pole shift. Interesting.
What concerns me about this, and yes I am a ham, is if the massive solar flare causes a EMP and fries my solid state radios.... Guess I better start building a shield for them.
