Guns in school- has it gotten too out of hand?

NO , It has gotten way beyond out of hand !

Remember the kid they suspended awhile back because he/she had a set of fingernail clippers ?

This garbage by the these left wing pacifists needs to have been stopped years ago !

When the mother said this is a judgement issue she is getting warm but not quite got it even herself .

This is a total stupidity issue stupidity on the principals part , stupidity on the part of the entire board or who/what would even consider hiring such a hysterical and frightened person to lead a grade school and set a example for such young and impressionable minds .

I am all for strong action and zero tolerance when it comes to threats and bullying but these matters would be much better handled with a private meeting " when there are actual infractions of reasonable rules" and a simple swat or two on the kids rear end and forget about it !

I recall over a decade ago a situation one of my own sons went through .

He was dealing with a mouthy little punk and when he would get to his point of not taking the verble and physical abuse would punch the kid , "Never seriously hurting him" well after a few vists to the office and a couple of days of suspension we finally got through to him he was handling it the wrong way and how to do so within the rules .

Well a couple of weeks later he comes home with a suspension note saying a parent had to meet with them prior to be letting back into school .

Well I called the office and arranged the meeting and after I think 3 days off we go to get this done , problem was my son had already told me he had indeed followed the rules and the school had done nothing about it .

Well as the meeting starts with myself the principal and 3 of my sons teachers as well as the school DARE officer they seem about to lecture me about all of this when I stopped them cold .

I asked each one if "Billy had indeed told them this kid was bothering himthat included throwing things and hitting him" each admitted that he had and when I asked what was done to the offending child they all said they simply talked to him but he was never suspended "Now his actions ran from calling my son some of the worst words you can think of to stealing from him to tripping him on the buss several times and finally what caused my son to explode was when he was hit in the eye by something this kid threw at him and it had punctured the skin below his eye"

After all admitting that my son had followed the rules and that all 5 of them rufused to take any real action to stop this problem I got up and started a lecture of my own , I asked them how was my son suppose to respect the rules when they seemed to only apply to him , with him being suspended yet this other kid getting away with physically hurting him without punishment .

I then looked the principal in the eye who was about 5 ft nothing and informed him he was lucky this was with my son and not me because if I had spent days following the rules and nothing was done yet when I decided to handle it myself he suspended me I would have beaten HIS butt as soon as the words came out of his mouth that I was suspended !!!

Needless to say they all looked scared as hell like I was a nut case and I told them this meeting was over and "Billy" would be back in school the next day and this situation had better not come up again and I took my son and walked out !

I had some similar instances with my 7 children and the morons that 'run" the "system" here in Arizona.
They do get a bit mortified when they are confronted by an adult!
This sort of thing began a lONG long time ago....back when I was in grade school in the early 60's....My mother sat them straight then, and I learned from her the difference between being a VICTIM and standing one's ground.
I never backed down and I never lost.
Sometimes just being "right" isn't enough...you also have to be staunch in your presentation!
Not screaming mind you, but sincere with audacious authority to "ruin their lives" if need be, to "correct" the situation.
Worked for me.
Not just in school either, it also worked in many jobs, with absent minded idiots for bosses, and it has certainly served me well in the justice system here...

Yes at the risk of forever embarrassing myself here , I will tell all a true story of how I learned at a very young age just how assanine enforcing rules just for the sake of doing so is .

When I was in 2nd grade our room was the first room built as part of a larger expansion project and it was attatched to the gymnasium and we had to walk through it to get to the nearest restrooms .

The teacher had created this little deal that had a paper pocket for each childs name and a Card for your name on it and two other pockets one for each restroom . When you needed to use the restroom you removed your name from the large section of the board and placed it into the pocket that read Boys or Girls respectively for the one you were and needed to use .

Well I was taught to respect my elders and never argue or back talk them at such a young age in the middle 60's .

One day I needed to releive myself yet there was already a classmates name in the Boys pocket so I sat and waited , after 5 minutes or so I got up to look through the doors window to see if he was coming back to the room when I see him sitting on the gym stage enjoying himself watching a class of older kids playing basketball .

So I sat down for a few more minutes and then went to check again and still there he sat watching the game , at this point things are getting serious so I went to the teacher to explain the situation and tell her I must use the bathroom NOW.

She refused to let me leave and ordered me to sit back down until the other boy came back .

I went back to her twice with the same results over about a 10 minute span of time with the same results except the second time she threatened me with a spanking if I bothered her again yet all the while she refused to even get her lazy azz up and look to see if I was telling the truth .

This was all in a racialy mixed school district in the 60's with a large black population and she was white , as am I and the other kid was black so to this day I honestly think she was afraid to take any punitive action and inforce any rules on him .

It wound up with me not being able to hold it and , well thak God it was just P and I made a mess on myself .

I had to spend the rest of the "which was only about an hour and a half thank God" day in wet pants as she refused to even allow me to go to the nurse and call home for dry clothes .

Needless to say my mother wanted to know what happened as soon as she saw me when she picked me up and after I explained it all to her the next day she went straight to the principals office and exploded .

Do you know not only was the teacher never repremanded but they also refused to allow me to transfer out of her class .

Over the years I have seen way to many abuses of authority though never personally expierenced any like that to ever have any kind of automatic respect for any authority figures ever again !

 

OMG how times have changed. In the early 60's when in 8th grade I was called to the principal's office. When we were alone with the door shut, he accused me of some act of vandalizm of some sort that I had nothing in any way to do with. He told me he knew I did it, he opened his desk drawer and took out a heavy wooden paddle and told me to stand, bend over and grab my ankles. I told him to call one of my parents because this wasn't going to happen. He started around his desk paddle in hand. I stood, grabbed a large ashtray off his desk and backed for the door. I told him I was leaving and that my parents and I would return later that day or in the morning. He stated that I would take my punishment as he saw fit and that would be that. I told him I was leaving now, and that if he laid hand upon me I would knock him cold with the ashtray. I left. The following day both my parents came with me to school. we met with the principal and they told him that #1 that I did not lie. #2 that if for any reason I declined to participate in any punishment they wanted to enforce that they better call them first, or allow me to leave. Interestingly enough he was very docile about the whole thing. I later found out from his son who was in the same class that someone else had been found out to be the vandal. Go figure.

 

Interesting story there tacmotusn and easy to believe as you see I had the Principals son in gym and health class 1 year in high school he was easily one of the biggest shit heads in the school and made quite a few drug sales every day all the while Daddy thought he was the most perfect child there !

 

I'm going to get a bunch of the "two inch leggo guns" for my son after he is born...

Or I can wait until he is old enough to NOT put it in his mouth.

Somehow i get the feeling i have offended a teacher here. I never meant to imply the principals son was the vandal, he wasn't. Actually the Methodist preacher's son, the principal's son and i got into our share of mischief and paid the price for it if we were guilty. Detention, extra laps running by the pe coach, and numerous paddlings were all pretty common. I hope you were a good teacher, and not just a government slug such as made up 80 percent of the staff at most public schools i attended. All three of us Volunteered for our choice of military service during the Vietnam war instead of being drafted, and the principal's son stood up for me as my best man at my wedding. He wore Marine dress blues, and i was in Navy crackerjacks. Bride in white satin. All in all i think we turned out fine.
