Good stuff! I could go around the Denver area and shoot the same thing. Only the names of the streets would change. Every time I drive into town, I see another empty space somewhere. Mom and pop retail really hurting. In one industrial park, there is well over half a million square feet - brand new, never occupied. They doggedly completed the albatross just last fall. What gets me is we're doing better than a lot of places - unemployment (U3) between 7 & 8%, property values - though down from the peak - are still at least 30% higher than needed to fall back in line with pre-bubble appreciation rates. I wonder what commercial space looks like in Ohio or Michigan!
It seems like things are starting to pick up by me. I'm in North Carolina, and I'm starting to see some building activity in dormant subdivisions. Recruiters say jobs are looking better too. We actually didn't get hit all that hard because this area never really "booms" like Las Vegas or Florida does. Just steady growth. Let me just say this: I think this is BAD news! What our government is doing can be likened to taking an ailing, sick diabetic heart patient whose heart has stopped and when all else fails, giving him a MASSIVE shot of adrenaline. Though he may revive for a time, the "cure" will surely kill him in a spectacular way. IOW, we may be going from a slow slide to a massive SHTF scenario.
You're in a decent state at least. Taxes are low.. cost of living is low. NY is getting killed, California is getting killed... I hear Florida is a mess in many places as well as Oregon.
