The Tactical Link Battery Assist Lever significantly improves the speed and efficiency of reloads and clearing stoppages without switching hands, allowing you to maintain constant fire control. This device easily installs onto your existing standard mil-spec forged AR bolt release/catch (paddle) with no weapon disassembly or parts replacement.

Interesting gadget. Anyone here have one? We could use a product review.

I never have liked the charging handle design.

I don't see how this could make reloads any faster.... maybe for a leftie. A righty has no trouble with the OEM bolt release.

As for clearing malfunctions.... if you need to lock the bolt to the rear to clear a malfunction, it's not going to be fast no matter what. In fact, you are better off transitioning to your pistol and driving on. A simple rack of the CH clears about 95% of malfunctions (which can be alleviated by using decent ammo/ mags anyways). Anything worse is typically a bad round fed over the chamber and will require a bit more (again.... use good ammo/ mags).

It does indeed make reloads faster because one doesn't need to move one's body (head, shoulder, arms, etc.) for anything post mag insertion. It took about 7-10 reloads for me to dump my old habits to use the battery assist lever exclusively. I have one and this little gadget easily knocked off more than a 1/2 second on my reloads.

Understandably, this device would probably not be of much interest to bench / target shooters, but it would be of interest for high-speed operators for whom fraction of seconds matter.

I agree that clearing stoppages (especially where you need to lock the bolt to the rear) takes time but the act of locking the bolt to the rear is significantly faster with a battery assist lever versus switching hands to then lock back the bolt.

I have no clue how you do reloads or what you are running but your support hand has to transition to the forend before you can fire (unless you need to squeeze off a quick round for something close- failed to reload tactically). Well, the bolt release is on the way from the mag well to the forend. I still don't see what we are talking about here. Fraction seconds..... maybe learning to reload before you are empty is a better strategy. I think a lot of people get caught up in the speed of a reload but nearly every reload I have done under fire was done while taking cover or at a lull. Anything less is just ludicrous. To think that this gadget will make you faster than a guy with a round in the chamber is dumb. Proper training and keeping your head will save you some dough (and a little blood).

Bottomline- make your reloads smooth but more importantly.... think about when you reload. It should be ahead of time, on the move, or while covered.

ETA: If you are reloading on an empty chamber, you are likely already dead. A tactical reload is done before you are completely out of ammo.

I love discussion forums and the divergent perspectives that we all hang on to and try to validate...

All I'm saying is that this device reduces and/or eliminates some of the motions involved in performing a reload and/or locking the bolt back when compared to not using such a device.

I have one; I know this to be true. You, I assume do not have one; and are therefore conjecturing from that perspective. If you used one, you would understand the benefit (economy of motion = faster).

I'm done with this. Good luck. [beer]

That's kind of the point of discussion forums after all.... divergent perspectives. I think this place would be pretty lame if we all agreed like sheeple [beer]
As for validation.... I don't really need it. Reloads and clearing stoppages haven't changed much since the 1963. Somehow for all those years, we have managed. But the moment that Magpul (since the this is a rip-off of their design [BAD].... which is a rip-off of many) puts their name on something, sheeple jump on the bandwagon.

Not a gimmick fan, never have been. Especially for bolt on gizmos that sell faster reloads through fear mongering (seriously... it says "Unfair Advantage" on the top of their webpage right now). But, I think this one won't last long. I mean there is a ton of similar gimmicks that haven't taken off:

Fulton Armory: AR-15 Accessories, Tools and Books $22.95
    boltrelease $25
    RB Precision Products $20
    Creedmoor $25
Dpms Ar - 15 / M16 Tactical Bolt Catch, Shooting Supplies, Dpms at Sportsman's Guide $10
Double Pad Extended Bolt Catch $25
Double Pad Extended Bolt Catch $18
SURE SHOT : AR-15 EXTENDED BOLT RELEASE - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools $45

Point is, they all work on the same principle and they have been around a long time. The hype is tactical shooting so the re-market the same old tired **** as a "potentially life saving" and someone will buy.

If you still like them and think you can't live without one, at least now you have some market research done... [winkthumb]

Seriously though.... a really smart man once told me a tip for firefights.... don't take your shooting finger off the trigger. Same guy told me putting anything "extended" on your weapon is asking for trouble. I think he was right.

Well said. I've been on a couple of forums with 100% agreement on everything- for about a minute.

Yep, some folks are gadgeteers, and some just do it the way it was designed.

LOL. Well, the AR/M4/M16 isn't exactly a flawless design. I like improvements. Yes, I will call this assist an improvement. [woot]
