A state volunteer force that is not subject to the federal government?

This following the statement from a gubertorial candidate in Idaho that if elected he would utilize local militia groups and sees an "expanded role" for them in the state.

"A state volunteer force that is not subject to the federal government?"

Why not? Is there a Constitutional reason why something like that is verboten? (Not that I remember, but I'm no expert.)

Be careful about what you hear under the heading "Tea Party".
I was listening to Michelle Malkin on Hannity today. She states that there are more than a few false flag operations run by liberals in an attempt to embarrass the Tea Party movement.
    Though this seems legit.

SEIU and the now-renamed ACORN drones have threatened to infiltrate and disrupt Tea Party gatherings too, to possibly instigate an 'incident' to discredit them.

Many states already have the provision for State Militias, even if they are not currently used.

State militias were common 50 or so years ago. Even as lately as the 80's, before the Clintonista demonization of them in the 90's, they were used by the county Sherriffs as a deputy pool and for things like search and rescue operations etc.
And the intent is that unlike the National Guard they are not subject to federal authority.

That would be a bold move, but very possible due to the sensitivity of everyone on the right with the raids in Michigan, the Michigan Militia under fire, and everyone trying to link Tea Parties to terrorists.

I see a spiral downward.
