Freakin' pathetic. I love the way people will justify anything: "we can't wash clothes"! Ha!

And cops - let me tell you about big city cops. They're the pits. I grew up with these guys. Big city forces are always hiring because the job is hell. You have to do mandatory duty in war zone burned out neighborhoods. They pay well because they have strong unions. Combine those facts and think about who they attract:
"I took 2 semesters of junior college and flunked and now that my girlfriends pregnant and doesn't want to live in my parents basement and stacking cans in the A&P isn't cutting it, I guess I'll join the force"
... and those are the decent cops.

Just make sure you stick to your ethical guns.. don't back down.. and be the example, not the exception.

You're right. Those cops were the exception, not the rule.

Sorry for being a bit harsh. Just thinking about all the times I was pulled over and cussed out for no good reason.
Though big city forces are pools of mediocrity and attract some bad actors, The majority are decent folks.
Small town cops, in my experience are the salt of the earth.

On behalf of all the police officers on this blog, I just want to thank you gentlemen for the insults and slander. It's reassuring to know how much we're appreciated.

I think if you'll check the newspaper archives from New Orleans, you will find that most of those "crooked cops" were tried and convicted. At least those that were caught on videos.

Insults this may be, slander this is not:

    1. It's written and would thus be called libel if it met other conditions:
    a. It's an opinion.
    b. The author of the words believes them to be the truth.

Slander and libel must be knowingly false by the person speaking or writing and with the sole intent to defame one's character. While lumping 'all cops' or 'big city cops' may be a generalization that some do not fall under, and may certainly be in bad taste, it is protected speech; especially in the context of the videos posted by the OP. I believe it was proven that many LEOs in New Orleans after Katrina abused the trust placed in them by claiming unlawful authority of the citizenry.

On behalf of all those who have the ability to comprehend plain english with the foresight to understand that when offended, one is often seeking to be.. one might take notice of the following hi-lited words in context:

Followed by my further point that one should :
You would find that I am making a point that not everyone, including officers, are infallible; and that during times of chaos and cruelty, even those wearing badges may not be as filled with integrity as one might have conceived. However, there are people who will remain intact and that it will be hard to determine who is who among them. If you took offense, then perhaps you are on the Example side of the coin.

I meant no disrespect, but you were apparently appeasing some inner angst toward the public at large that you think sees officers as the enemy. Lest I remind you that trust is earned, not absolute, because you wear a badge. In other words, I trust no one until they can prove they're trust-worthy regardless of their place. Further more, while we're on the topic of examples:

Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely. We need look no further than over our shoulders at the men and women in D.C. If you are human, and I believe you are, you are no different in this basic nature, while the fiber of your being is the only thing that enables you to stand or fall apart.

Will you stand in recognizing the weakness of humans? or will you insist that I am targeting one specific demographic and continue with being offended?

Any occupation, any race, any gender, any religious persuasion, any HUMAN on the face of this earth has the capability to be good or evil. No group however small or large is garanteed to be free of at least one individual or more with a bent mind and evil in their heart. Chaotic and stressful times will certainly bring these individuals and their unsavory tendencies to the light of day. These individuals are a blight on all other good peoples who they seem to represent, and should be weeded out and severely punished.
    .
I am sorry that GOOD law enforcement personnel immediately took offense at this threads initial post. To the poster who took offense and quickly reponded, my question is; Where is your outrage for the nefarious law breakers toting a gun, badge, and uniform who dishonored your profession?
    .
A better response might have been. "Those criminals in uniform have been identified, stripped of that uniform, and severely punished. They in no way represent the vast majority of us who wear the blue honorably and uphold the law for your protection."
    .
Learn from these discussions as we all do. Don't be so antagonistic. Be a tactful public relations advocate for your profession. JMHO of course.
