Willie Nelson cuts off his famed pigtails

Willie Nelson cuts off his famed pigtails - Music - TODAY Show

It was back in 1975 as I was in the final years of a marriage of mismatched souls when my then-husband bought me an "I'm sorry" present - Red Headed Stranger. He said he bought it because of the title of one song "Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain" That was me. The husband and I parted not too long after but Willie has stayed with me always.

    I'll miss the pigtail!

I have been a fan of wiliie as a song writer more than a singer for many many years. By the way, I am pretty sure my parents had that LP album. I think that was released in 1956. Willie has a good heart, but can do some truly crazy stuff when seriously mixing his wacky tobacky and booze. I doubt the pigtails came off while he was completely sober. JMHO

My favorite Willie album is Stardust - it's music by which one should make love

well I was wrong about the release date of that album. It was indeed 1975. He did cut a record in 1956 though.

Pancho and Lefty is a Townse Vansandt song.

My best Scobby doo : Erooo?I've only ever heard it from willy but I certainly can't discuss country music.

    wiki to the rescue:
While alive, Van Zandt was labeled as a cult musician: though he had a small and devoted fanbase, he never had a successful album or single, and even had difficulty keeping his recordings in print.[2][3] In 1983, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard covered his song "Pancho and Lefty" [applaud][applaud][applaud]
    most correct thanx :)

I like Willie's music, but despise his politics. Artists are best when they remember they are 'entertainers'......

In the USN, my little ship's UNREPS "break-away" song was Willie's "On the road again". This is a song played on the receiving ship's loudspeakers when disconnecting from the oiler/supply ship. We spent a lot of time 'on the road'........

Most of the ships I deployed on allowed the crew to choose one song for breakaway 1st half of cruise and then another for 2nd half. Second half I always submitted "Sloop John B"

Breakaway? We didn't DO that, rep was always pier- or tender side. (No way to rig a high line from the sail and no place to land a pallet underway. Didn't need fuel anyway.)
