Does anyone have any plans for a portable deer or game cart? I was thinking something that I could easily pack in. When needed, chop a couple saplings and lash, wing nut, or bolt together to make a deer cart. I know someone else has had this problem before. Me no likey quads and me no have pack mules. Just my good ole' back and legs. (Conditions are varying highland desert with altitude ranging from 5,000-7,000 feet.)
Maybe you can do something with a hand truck. Enlarge the base and strap the deer to the upright portion. Balance may be an issue since those are made to be pushed and you're best choice in rough terrain would be to drag something behind you.
I think you mean a travois. I was looking for a bit more efficiency. If it was being dragged by a pack animal that would work... I'm not much of a pack animal.
A travois works well in rough (or sandy) ground, and can be pulled where wheels won't go. I guess the message is to know the terrain where you'll be. And, you don't need to carry it in, you can build to suit when and if you need it. (Take cordage for the build and an orange space blanket along, you don't want the horns showing to attract bullets.) I haven't hunted in a long time, but when I did, it was in rather steep and rocky ground where packing parts was the only way to fly. No way to get a whole animal bigger than a bunny out.
