A fork en spoon I carved from cherry wood I collected the other day. Carving spoons and other objects is a great little hobby to do whilst sitting around the camp fire and you can make some usfull items. The tools used to carve them where the Eric Frost spoon knife and case XX folder.
There isn't anything to relate scale. Are they stew pot sized, or for single olives in the bottom of the jar? Just curious --
What, you can't tell? It's easy. See that tiny grain of dust about 21 and a half centimeters due south-west of the fork? With this in mind, one can easily extrapolate that the eating utensils are approximately 10" in length, or the distance from (extended apart) tip of thumb to tip of pinkie finger for an average sized mongoloid American male.
I made them 9" long as one of my billycans is quite deep and I couldn't reach the bottom with my other spoons,so they are for eveyday eating but with some extra length.
I might have to pick up a spoon knife. Looks like a fun little hobby when you're just sitting around.
The spoon knives are not very expensive so once you have the knife its a very cheap hobby,you can also carve bowls and cups with those knives to.
Thank you but they are really not that hard to make,you should give it a go because im sure you would suprise yourself on the results.
And here I thought that you were supposed to drink beer and tell tall tales while sitting around the campfire. My 9yo has tried several times to make some type of eating utensil since seeing this post but his patience runs out and he ends up making everything a spear. He'll get it one day.
Great idea for when you have nothing to do late at night around the campfire. Will give it a try this weekend.
