Cans and string? Seriously.... Go lo-tech....utilise some of the "forgotten" things like upper and lower side band on the old cb radios.....I still have and on occassion monitor some of the older analog scanners...you'd be surprised who is still using those freq's and what's they use them for today! I just located some old radios (2) used by the cia back in the 60's and can get them for a song....There's a lot of oldies, but goodies, out there even today, you just have to get past the idea of super fast and super clean communications....look back at the 60's and 70's communications!
I totally agree with you Dragonfly, but the whole point of communication is to have enough people to communicate "with". Unless a lot of folks start using CB side band or some other form of communication, it looks like internet will remain king. We can't exactly browse Amazon from the radio, either. But...that's not the point I know.
Problem is, the more wide spread the usage, the greater chance of The Men In Black listening in. NO cryptography is safe against them. Odd frequencies - they have automated digital electronic listening systems that can scan a mind-boggling array of stuff. Far faster than having a couple guys in a radio shack with earphones on. The 'puter 'hears' a 'dirty word', they got you pegged..... Been reading the past couple years of the Goobermint starting up a new 'cyber warfare' department - they plan to have a clearing house facility in every state - phone, cell phone, internet, E-mail - NOTHING is safe from Big-eared Brother.......
