I'm hacking my way through some xhtml and CSS and I did something last night that messed up my layout and I can't figure it out.

It's a two column design in xhtml and CSS and the footer (Both text and CSS markup) jumped into one of the columns and I can't get it unstuck.

    Can anyone help?

Glad you guys are around... [roll eyes while shaking head and drooling]

It's weird. Either I fixed or the different weight of the RSS feeds are breaking the style. If anyone want to take a look, index is the only file here so none of the links work yet.

That RSS box is javascript and I'm not sure if I can add any more control to the js? Need someone with more javafoo than I.

style.css is also in the directory.

What exactly is the problem? Page is OK and some of the links even work. RSS works too... Am I missing something here, or did you fix it?

I think I refactored my way through the mess. Either that or it was a ghost in the machine that broke my CSS. More of the links are working now as I copy the old survivalmonkey.com pages to the new format. I'm doing everything in Notepad++ and then sticking it in Dreamweaver just for template management so I can update things later with a master template rather than having to edit each individual page at a time. It's all XTML Transitional Validated too ;)

    UGRev Get on with it!

My UI debugging tip for the day.
FireFox + FireBug plug-in + Web Developer plug-in = Edit your site dynamically without changing any files. Sort of an "on the fly", see it as you type it so you can copy and paste it the css files when you get it the way you want it.

I've done enough css, javascript crap for a lifetime. I hate it tremendously, but that's what I use when I have to enter that world of UI hell.

I testing in Safari, Firefox and Chrome as I make changes and have found Chrome's built in 'Inspect Element' to be pretty useful. A lot like Firebug.

Haven't tried the developer tool kit. Have to give that a shot.
