If passed, the Oregon Regulated Medical Marijuana Supply System Act, commonly referred to as Measure 74, would expand the reach of Oregon's medical marijuana laws by establishing a system of nonprofit, state-licensed growers and distributors, allowing medical marijuana users to purchase cannabis in accordance with their prescriptions. I was driving home today and was looking at the sign driven into the ground along the route and noticed the measure 74 sign and it hit me……. I am now for legalizing Marijuana, no medical license needed. I think it should be put in the liquor stores, (Oregon liquor stores are ran by the state, only beer and wind can be sold in other stores.) and or Bars. Before that moment I was against the legalizing of it. I don’t partake in it, don’t get me wrong though, I have plenty of friends and family that consume Marijuana daily and carry normal productive lives and I have never looked down on them or thought ill of them, however I would never allow it in my house or vehicles’ due to the seizures our government and law enforcement practice not caring weather I use it or not, if it is near my car, or house I am susceptible to seizures if they carry it while with me. Now with the medical Marijuana I know lots of people who now have cards and don’t work, never have worked much and have smoked it all their lives. They now with Obama care or our Oregon medical cards will be getting the high free and I will have to pay for it through my taxes they collect therefore I am now 100% for the legalization of Marijuana use, let them pay for it not me. Before anyone gets their panties in a wad or grabs their Tonka trucks and run home mad, I didn’t in anyway mean that there aren’t people who really need it, I just haven’t met them yet… I have yet to meet one person with a medical marijuana card that didn’t smoke it before receiving the card . I know there has to be people out there that come down with some medical condition that requires it.I just haven’t met them. So I was one against…. and now am totally for the legalization of marijuana use…. Never thought that day would happen to me…lol http://www.dailyemerald.com/news/measure-74-could-establish-dispensaries-for-card-holders-1.1689524
I can see the use of it for medical reasons, but I have 2 neighbors that have trouble even walking after a "bout" with it.... ( "about 4-6 hours" I'd say) with it! 1 is brain dead, and is on disabiity because he has the IQ of a sponge.... Seriously, he did a LOT of other drugs and fried his brain, LONG LONG ago! The other is a diabetic and just likes the stuff! Problem with the "law" is that there is always those that will find a way around it, to make money!
My issue is the same one i have with alcohol... useit at home or in a contrlled environment... no problem... get behind the wheel of a vehicle... Big issues... I personally have no tolerance for drunk drivers... the same with Pot smokers who drive under the influence.
Michigan passed this law. A friend called me and told me how lucrative the medical marijuana growing can be. Through a unique method which was not discussed, a person can grow weed for others and then sell to the medical MJ distributors. They made $25K per plant profit. No wonder the they build subs to bring this stuff to the US.
Even though it's legal in the state, the federal laws have the ability to override, the way I understand it.
Maybe, maybe not, T. There is a 10th A question hanging out that will need a court test if the Justice Department gets interested.
I wish Alabama would get medical marijuana; I have a great collection of Grateful Dead CDs and probably got one or two conditions that would improve with a bit of skunk.
I am OK with legalizing it, if and only if, the government (federal, state or otherwise) does NOT make a dime on it. If they are willing to legalize because it is the right thing to do, fine. If it is being legalized because it will end all of our budget problems (like lotteries, casinos), it's the wrong reason to legalize it. I have no doubt it will be legal everywhere before Obama's administration ends.
I'll be voting for 74. Don't smoke it myself but could care less if other people do. In the event security that I do, I would rather deal with a bunch of stoners then a bunch of drunks! A few years ago I thought about growing medical marijuana for the state until I looked into it and found out the Feds can bust you at will and take everything, no thanks.
Not sure if it's on Youtube but there was a series on drugs on one of the cable channels, (I was living out of a hotel room for a month) and the show called King of Cannabis was pretty interesting. I'd never seen those pyramid cone shaped vaporizers before.
I'm moving to Oregon.... Seriously...I have a friend that's broken about 18 bones in his body at one time or another...In his 60's now...Lives with chronic pain...He was strung out on all the opiates the Dr's wrote with their 45 caliber pens...and kept ending up in treament, detox, getting sicker, etc.....addicted, buying them on the street...just all around miserable... Now? He smokes pot every day, and goes about his business....Happy...Pretty much pain free...I'd vote for it... Is it illegal for him? Yep...... Do I care? Nope.... Better with a joint, than a drink...I think. (wonder who knows what song that line is from? lol)
My wife is a cancer survivor and holder of an Oregon medicinal permit. I volunteer with Oregon Medical Marijuana Project as a "caregiver"... primarily delivering marijuana and "edibles" to patients. Most of the patients with whom I come into contact are elderly even by my standards (I am in my 60s), many are housebound. Prop 74 will eliminate the need for persons such as myself by allowing easy access for patients to a range of pot products at storefront dispensaries... I'm all for it. Like Witch Doctor 01, I have an issue with people driving while intoxicated (regardless of the intoxicant used) or while doing anything else that will tend to make them inattentive or reckless in their driving habits (including talking or texting on their phones, reading their mail, looking for a CD, applying makeup, eating or any number of other acts). However, I tend to place the responsibility on the individual driver rather than the substance or object that distracts them.
