    Drop In "Survivalists"

I had sort of already planned for the eventuality of my sister-in-law (living nearby) not preparing and having her show up to rely upon our family preparedness to pull her bacon out of the fire.

But if this scenario repeats across the nation, that could be a profound event!! This could potentially take a well-prepared family, or group, and destabilize the situation such that long-term survival is much less achievable than it would have been without such drop-in survivalists. If that situation is not effectively dealt with, many folks would find their survival plans thoroughly shredded.

My original Plan A was for a Bug-In. Plan B is for Bugout Bags for each member of my immediate family.

This "Drop In" factor is just huge.

I guess that would mandate that we consider a Plan C for dealing with the inevitable drop-ins. Has anyone thought this out at length? I have not done so, yet. I'd appreciate your thoughts about this.

Keep adding people to the life raft and everyone on board dies.

Plan C for drop in's is a 2 choice decision for them, leave or die. Sorry but reality is reality. If it takes an XXXXX to make the tough call and put down or turn away someone then so be it.
Obviously if your contingency can handle 1, 2, 5, 20 more, great. The more hands the better. But every plan has it's limits and that's when the 2 choice decision will have to be made.

Unless you have a bugout location unknown to anyone else, not much you can do. One could prep a cabin or something in the mountains and not tell anyone...but that's bugout deal then. If you bugin, and people around know, you're in deep doodoo...zombies come to mind here...
Can you shoot all your neighbours and friends? Hmmmm...bugout secret remote location plan needs reconsidering...put accent on "SECRET" here...

If they plan on bugging in with you... get $100-$150 a month from them and start prepping for them... you should be able to gat some food stocks eqasy over the next couple of months... if they decline suggest that they try somewhere else...

    Zombie Preppin'

    Bane,

Now you're getting me psyched up for a good series of zombie movies. Any suggestions for movies to rent? Maybe there'll be a survival lesson or two to be learned.

When people have told me that they are coming over I say good because you can never have too much dog and chicken feed! [stirpot] That pretty much ends the conversation. [rofllmao]

Bones are good to. I have a sewing needle made from bone by the Anazai about 800 years ago and it sure makes you think. Picture frames, pot stands , jewelry. Oh well, I guess I am as they said in the service, I don't play well with others.

Well, I guess I am kind of a lone wolf kinda guy. I never said it was bad. I prepare for my wife and I , and nobody else. Our kids live a long ways off, and the chances of them getting here are about zip. They are not preparred as most people are not, and would wait until a week after the fact before the realized that the computer and tv are not ever going to work again. They like many people are lulled into a false sense of security by the gobernut and cannot fathom anything ever happeing to their little gadget world.

Hmmmm....obviously, you didn't spank them enough in young age... :D

Reading that was like looking in the mirror ... :D We love our kids (well he loves his and I love mine [peep]) but like your they live their own lives. If GC and I die taking care of each other with no one else around we will be fine with that ... more me than him, I suspect ... that guy is always making friends ... me I am more of a homebody. Give me my critters, my home and my garden ... internet a couple three times a week and I am in heaven ... however, I think I could very easily do without the internet too.

LOL ... you can only spank them so much ... then it becomes abuse [peep]

Seriously though, you raise them up the way you think is right and if you have done your job they will be able to stand on their own two feet, make their own decisions and deal with the responsibility of those decisions. IMHO that is the best any parent should be able to hope for.

Not in my country!... :D Spanking here is mandatory by law!... ;)
You need to teach them how to think rationally and logically...think with their own heads and not listening to everything govt or tv box says...

Over here, you will most likely go to jail, have the kids taken away for even slapping their rear ends. It is called child abuse. The liberal left loonies have all but taken away our rights to raise our children the way it should be. Those days of kids paying attention and saying sir, maam are long gone. Now they also sue their parents for not letting them have a new gadget.

I agree wholeheartedly. However, in the end, they will grown up and go their own way. Then the decisions they make will be their own. And the consequences of those decisions will also be their own.

I love my kids more than life itself but they don't always do what I think is right or what is I think is best. Parents who cannot let go and realize that they cannot control their 20 and 30 something children (and that they SHOULDN'T try to control their 20 and 30 something children) die a thousand deaths. Never mind that their children never learn to be self-sufficient.

My children, who are 27, 24 and 23 know they can come to me for anything but they also know they are entitled to nothing. We have a neighbor whose boys (the same age as my three) have never left home. I think that is the ultimate betrayal ... these kids have not got a snowball's chance in hell as all they have learned from mom and dad is that they don't have to take responsibility for themselves ... they think that someone, somewhere will always step up and take care of them. What in the world is gonna happen to them when mom and dad are gone?? It is sad, really.
