    YouTube - Madison Co. to evict man from camper

    BECAUSE HE LIVES OFF GRID.

    Those responsible for this need to have a people who won't take it any more show them the fear of trampling on liberty.

    36 acres. His land? The land of the state? Did he sign a contract stating that he would hook up electricity and have plumbing? Who is right?

    Lengthy discussion about this on another forum, Seems the issue is over some kind of zoning that he doesn't comply to. Can't live in an RV or something. Got a bit [beat] with some of the posters over the fact he doesn't have any sewer disposal method. Really crazy if ya ask me, the guy has over 30 acres for pete's sake. Has horses and a dog even. He can keep his livestock there just can't live there under those conditions. Local government ignorance and control.

    It's raising quite a stir. Too early to tell for sure, but hopefully he will sell the land and move to a less tyrannical area of Naziville or leave that state altogether.

    What I'd do is put in a house, septic system, well and electric and then go live in the camper anyway if that makes him happy. Just be sure and hide his activity from the prying eyes of the neighbors, who are probably the ones responsible for turning him in in the first place.

    Sewer + Well + Structure = Increase in Taxes to the Government.


    I believe many of the codes written are simply to create the ability for local governments to increase property taxes by increasing the overall costs.

    Craftymofo was building a cabin and they required 800 sq. ft. of "home" to be built on his property and he was at 750 sq. ft. plus they wanted a well and septic. He got a variance on the sq. ft. because the building he was putting up did not look like a typical "hunting camp" building; however, the idea is more taxes and more control.

    Regulations are about increasing the taxable value of your home.

    Apparently he is giving up the fight, and has agreed to sell his property and move on according to a source on that other forum. He is what? In his 80s and just wanted some land to live out the rest of his days in peace in a simple lifestyle. A lifestyle that he probably grew up with when he was a boy, not like he didn't know how to survive that way. Some developer will probably end up with the land, stupid zoning laws. Hope the old guy can find a place where he can live out the rest of his life in peace.

    it is rural farm land. Not developer minded. Usually in farm country, a neighbor will say "if you ever want to sell your property, call me before you call a broker." I would venture to say he his land is being purchased by his neighbor who probably farms the land.

    I have searched the net, but been unable to find a follow up story on this to see how it ended. Would be interested to hear if anyone in that area of the state has heard anything to bring us up to date. The video is not clear what his actual accused violations are either.

    The Internet story or rumor I have heard is that, he agreed to sell his property and move. Maybe that is all there is to the story now. Guess if he could find a place less restrictive, where people left him alone, that would solve it for him. I just hate it to see someone trampled on like that.

    If you really want to know, eMail, or search, the local Newspaper, and ask the local reporter in the area.... they will know... Newspaper reporters are the BusyBodies of our society....

    Typically when asked One on One, they react like regular folks, because they really are...Kind of.... It is when they start typing that the bias normally comes out. Just ask straight questions, and they usually will give straight answers... This isn't something that really can be spun... It is just a Who, What, Where, and what is the End Story type question. You really don't care about the Why, which is ALL political....

    That sucks. Not only because he was kicked off his own land, but because maybe if it had rated higher on the national news circuit than what celebrities are currently going to rehab or being arrested, maybe it would have turned out differently.
