    Wake Up America!
This reads like something out of 1984 but it's real.

    -snip-
Through sheer tenacity Paul managed to obtain a business card identifying the visitor as Mark Cerchione. His title is – take a deep breath – Inspector for Region 10 of the East Command for the Department of Homeland Security's National Protection and Programs Directorate, Federal Protective Service. This vital human cog in the State's apparatus of public order has an office located at 550 West Fort Street, Room 370 in Boise.

    -snip-
"If you see something – say something," commands Commissarina Napolitano from Wal-Mart telescreens across the Rodina. Citizen Concepts, one of the ever-expanding school of corporate remoras battening onto the Homeland Security leviathan, has introduced a so-called "Patriot App" for the iPhone that will simplify things for informants by permitting them to interface directly with the hive mind. (Among its corporate "goals," Citizen Concepts lists "decreasing variance in human behavior to mitigate risk and error" – or, rendered into intelligible language, eliminating non-conformity as a threat to the public interest).

I fear we're out of time. America is going to get what she asked for by neglecting to remain watchful.

Don't know if it is happening where you live. But every time the state DOT installs new traffic lights they also install cameras that see what is coming and going. Marry that with license plate reading technology that DHS is providing to local police departments. We are getting to a 24 hour a day surveillance technology just because a few jihadis killed some Americans almost ten years ago. This is becoming total informational awareness for the government. The sheeple just say I will go along with it if it keeps us safe. Safe? You are giving up your constitutional freedoms every day and you don't even know it. From your grocery discount card to these traffic cams, It's all blended together to give a total informational picture of you and what you do. The internet is obviously next or has been next for some time. If you don't protest it and stop it now, you will be just a number in a government computer that knows where you shop, what you buy, where you go, what you say, and what you believe in. I really fear for my civil liberties.

I don't do those grocery store cards. Used to do 'em with bogus info, but just don't bother with them now.

but Holy Cr ap Melbo! It is sounding like it's getting pretty late.

Next thing i know my 85 year old neighbor is going to be reporting me for not using propane or fuel oil like everyone else!

I'm thinking that fast growing evergreens every 10 feet through out the yard and some poplars will be the only way around spying eyes.

b4 too long i guess the razor wire will be just a front line with the attack goats not to far behind.

    1984 indeed.

They go even further than just traffic cams. I traveled to the east coast and in Colorado they had a toll road that scanned your plate as you traveled and then sent me a bill in the mail using the DMV info attached to my vehicle... very creepy! I had to go online and pay the bill. So name, address, make and model of vehicle, credit card info, travel time, etc just by driving down the road.

So I went and looked at that website for the citizen concepts that melbo posted... Am I understanding this? Is it an app that say an employer could put on an employer provided phone to track what you do? Below is a quote from the website.

"We leverage your existing Blackberry, Android or iPhone platform and drive compliance directly to your staff's mobile device. No manuals to find, nor forms to locate, no wasted time. "

Yep that has been happening for a few years now. Traffic cams snapping pictures of you over the speed limit are common here. No Police offficer involved. Base fine is $100.00. A bankrupt government using technology to keep it going.

This wasn't even for "breaking a rule" it was a $2.40 toll for riding on their road. I don't like the idea of someone aging access to so much information to get a couple bucks

Me neither. Time to get off the grid as best you can. Good Luck!

Yep, it's even worse than you could imagine.

I write software for a small company. We sell it to small to midsized companies so that they can monitor the 'efficiency' of the routes their service personnel take. It can be either real time or post drive.

think of it as lojack on steroids. along the line of what the big trucking firms use. ever see the antennas mounted on the big rigs roofs. and trucking company vans. Only for the SMB's

speaking of lojack, have you been to their site recently. they can track everthing you would ever want to keep track of including love ones.

Got OnStar installed in your vehicle? well you 'could' be tracked.

Got a car with satnav and a cool computer as an installed feature, well how difficult would it be to make it talk back to HQ? easy, it's called a patch. 10 seconds you've been bugged.

ditto for cell/smart phones. not tough. how many times have you turned it on and it said 'Updating' . make you think.

    scared yet?

Now how about a project, let's call it 'Hydra'
'Hydra' as the mythical beast with multiple heads and sets of eyes.
what would such a beast do, well with one central body (governing body) it could use it's nervous system (Internet) to communicate with multiple brains (local jurisdictions) simultaneously and use it eyes (cameras whether personal, business, public, traffic cams) ears (anything that has a microphone) to develop situational awareness in any area where 'Hydra' is operating. Then relay that information to all the other brains to develop a plan/strategy to deal with an unfolding event.

    Sound scary? Sound far fetched?

Ok, have you noticed how increasingly accurate online mapping has become?
how about the birds eye view or street level views being offered by the bing, mapquest, google.

you don't think that's being leveraged by anyone? ;)

you are going to love what i post tomorrow evening.

I shouldn't be thinking about this stuff before bed, not conducive to a good nights sleep. But I guess that is better than being a sheep :)

People should not fear their government; but government should fear its people.

Visutrac, I do and I don't. I worked in this field for the fed gov fifteen years ago. I cannot imagine what has been done since then. I do fear for our Republic with the way this is going. We can't all move to Idaho or Montana. What the hell do us schmucks East of the Mississippi do to prepare?

Now just add in traffic, web, car cams. good mapping technology, shake, stir .. nanny state with eyes in the back of their heads.

I am pretty sure that it's not far away, but maybe i'm an alarmist.

technology is moving so rapidly and you know the ones with the deepest pockets can do way better than what is available to Joe Q Public.

What can we do? Well technology has one super fatal flaw. When those solar flares hit in 2012, that's going to cause a problem. not every thing can be hardened. No electricity, No Nanny.

    C'mon solar flares!
