Sleeping my rosey red. Just go ahead and open the slider.

Nice looking meat on the hoof, and a seriously lucky photo op. I've saved the pic and intend (if I get motivated later today) to meddle with it in P-shop, see if I can't get the contrast and exposure sorted out a bit.

I didn't do a thing to the the picture, but is was 7:35 am on a very overcast day and I had the zoom at max, so light was sacrificed for closeness.

Figured that out pretty quickly. For future reference and in case you aren't already knowledgeable, with snow or beach scenes, it pays to open the aperture a stop or two if your camera has that ability. If my meddling works, I'll post the results. NB: This will be a first attempt with P-shop, so I don't expect a lot of success.

I would get in the prone with bipod inside the sliding door, hearing protection in, and when ready have someone else slide it open..... boom!

It's hardly sporting to shoot the poor guy in your backyard in the dead of winter, even if it were legal

In spite of being a hunter I can still appreciate them, alive. Nice photo op

    Max,

I agree. If I was unable to feed my family otherwise, I would feed my family otherwise. It is difficult to call it sport when you can just about pet the deer in my backyard. My 2 year old, if he had his way, would walk up to him and get stomped.

This deer is known in the neighborhood as being very territorial and even went after my neighbor...rose up on his hind legs and tried to beat him with his forefeet. Well, the neighbor beat him with a shovel on the head and he turned and ran.

    I like seeing them, too.

    Good neighbor you have there.
The WT out here are very territorial and down right nasty if they live in city limits to ward pets and people.
We have 35 Muleys running around the place like a gang, they however didn't like the fact of my German Shepherd going at them the other night, they were crashing into the 6' chain link sounded like WWIII LOL

If he was a little older I would think about having some venison. He hasn't been around long enough to help out his fellow critter.

That is a nice looking animal. Nice, lean, juicy...sizzling on a grill....YES, meat is murder...tasty, tasty murder. Animals have the right to be served with a side dish.
