I would look to natural causes as the first cause.

Mass bird deaths in history - Google Search

This is not the first time. It won't be the last time. State wildlife tests show no poison or infection. Doesn't mean it couldn't be something new, just less likely. A lot of the reports say the birds mysteriously flew into the ground.... didn't die and fall.... flew into the ground. I am thinking some crazy magnetic something that messed with equilibrium or direction?? Just some guesses.

Randomly connecting two pieces of news and writing a story around it is often the mark of CT paranoia. It wasn't long ago that black vans were seen near the gulf and evacuation was imminent ;)

Before we start calling it weapons testing or accidental release and invasion by aliens, let's think about why this affected birds only and seemingly only birds in the air? Most the reports indicate erratic behavior just before death. No signs of disease or poison.

I was thinking they same, along the lines of some magnetic issues etc...

According to the Necropses they died from blunt force trama.... the birds in question settle in large groups in trees... apparently fireworks spooked them and they flew into various things and died...

Which happens every year around New Years? Why didn't it happen on the 4th of July?

Why never at Thunder Over Louisville, the largest fireworks display in the US right before the Derby?

If the massings are why so many, it has to do with the migrations. July 4th isn't a migration time, nor is New Years. (I don't think.)

OK, migrating birds get spooked and run into a UFO or each other and fall from the sky, liquefying internals in in the process... Tell me about the fish.

Here's another interesting theory. Birds Dieing All Over The World!, page 1
Could someone pull up the ocean current paths around the world to see if it correlates to the kill zones? I'm thinking Corexit making it's way around the worlds ocean currents.

I think it's fun to play to the fantasies of a schizoid. I may be known to kick midgets too ;)

Seriously, someone needs to play the other side. This would be boring otherwise.

    Found this one:

I like the term "aflockalypse". ;)

The reports of "mushy insides" are likely false or related to the violent death of flying straight into the ground.
    As for the fish...
One species.... that is pretty specific targeting for a WMD. I guess that means we are safe since people aren't dropping like flies.

On thing is certain- birds are dumb. Maybe we are too for contributing to this thread??

We might ask one of our pilot members about controlled flight into terrain -- [dunno]

I don't know what's causing it, but it being limited to air and water animals is weird and kinda creepy. I'm trying to think what would affect only air and water, and sound waves is all I could think of, but that should affect 'land lubbers' as well. Some are mentioning the lunar eclipse on Solstice. And some people are determined to find a 'common' or natural explanation because it's easier to not worry about it. But even if there was a reasonable explanation for it, still gonna be problems because of the disruption in the food chain this will cause, moreso in marine life.

Well it will certainly help the "global warming" camp now that there is more oil and chemicals in the oceans than there is water. At one time, the oceans contained plankton and kelp, and most of the world's carbon dioxide was filtered because of its algae. And here most have been taught it was only the blessed trees. Oh, how do you like that?

But this is about dead birds and dead fish.

    And some old Sting:

The Police “Canary In A Coalmine” lyrics by Sting

First to fall over when the atmosphere is less than perfect
Your sensibilities are shaken by the slightest defect
You live your life like a canary in a coalmine
You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line
You say you want to spend the winter in Firenza
You’re so afraid to catch a dose of influenza
You live your life like a canary in a coalmine
You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line
    Canary in a coalmine
Now if I tell you that you suffer from delusions
You pay your analyst to reach the same conclusions
You live your life like a canary in a coalmine
You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line
    Canary in a coalmine
First to fall over when the atmosphere is less than perfect
Your sensibilities are shaken by the slightest defect
You live your life like a canary in a coalmine
You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line
    Canary in a coalmine
