This is weird and I'm not really sure who's behind the campaign but it makes me cringe. YouTube - four visions of city life in 2040 - planned-opolis
watched all the videos. only communi-city looked even remotely decent. renew-abad was, well, bad. planned-opolis and sprawl-ville both look like they'd be immensely improved if they burned to the ground.
I think Al Bore must have had something to do with this. There is a reason I am a conservationist and not a tree hugging environmentalists. The whole idea makes me puke..
that was pure cynicism. They are basically ragging on the the idea of planning a huge city or cities. Because any time you plan, you seek to control. Run.. run as far away as you can.
Here's my dilemma: Do I "thumbs up" the video because it spreads a message in the hopes it will wake a few zombies up....or do I "thumbs down" because it may promote a kind of nose rubbing in the doo-doo?
Um, this is not far from reality. Microsoft is trying to do something like this. Take a look at this video: "Microsoft's vision on future of healthcare" YouTube - Office Labs: Future of personal health concept It looks like a world where everything about your entire life is tracked by a computer. Gee, when does this happen and I get denied because of some genetic glitch or another? .
The UN-based crap keeps harping on 'sustainability'. That cannot be done with today's population pressures, even less with that of 50 years from now. Unfortunately, the 'societies' that are the worst offenders are the lowest producers, and generally Third World. When we can get the Earth's population down to about a quarter of current level and KEEP it there, then we might be able to talk 'sustainability'. Yep, all that computer control is a wonderful thing - IF you are in charge of the computers....... If not, just WHO is controlling your life? I can easily see these type of cities being developed - Algore and his minions have talked of 'smart cities' for years. BUT, a huge number of people will not live in them - myself included. I guess we live in their idea of a 'ghetto', without their fancy programs and features. Poor us.....
I would give it a thumbs down for the sole reason that people are gullible and are likely to see the video as a supporting feature.
