Chat room needs a reinstall and I'll do that Saturday. I tried to fix some problems and created some others. I've noticed a ton of traffic in the shoutbox lately. After about 4 years of being gone, the full featured chatroom is back. I'm plagued by the Flash/Firefox crash that hasn't been fixed by either Adobe or the Firefox team over the past few years. Flash has been uninstalled for the past week now. I miss all the Flash pretties but all the lock-ups have completely gone away so Flash won't be back for awhile. Hope it gets fixed soon. Byte
I just opened up the chat room with Firefox 3.6.12 and all the Flash features seemed to be fine. I stopped using Firefox about a year ago but I don't remember ever having flash troubles... strange.
Between work and home computers I have 5 that I run updated Firefox/Flash on. I have no problem on 4 of them. Just my laptop. Didn't have any issues up until about 2 weeks ago. Nothing installed or updated. Just start experiencing complete lock-up crashes. Started searching around and it seems I'm definitely not alone. I can see Flash content on web pages but experience the crashes when viewing YouTube video on YT or embedded. It seems to stem from the hardware acceleration now included in the flash engine. Supposedly it was fixed after Firefox 3.6.6 but it still occurs for a lot of people. Haven't been able to find any definitive fixes yet. I also run NVidea GPUs on all the boxes. All different drivers too. Have tried the oldest to the newest drivers on the offending laptop to no avail. Actually, I think I'll reinstall it and use IE for awhile to see if I get the same crashes. I can watch YT vids on my laptop fine using IE and DirectX. Byte
Interesting. Never head of either. They look like very usable browsers though. I think I'll play around with them and see what they are like. Thanks. Byte
Hey Melbo.... Just a suggestion... Is there a way, that you could show who was in chat, on the Main Forum Page? We have that feature over on SmokStak, and it makes it nicer than just showing up, and not knowing if anyone is around...
