and not JUST when your hiking, UP is a very good place to hide from anyone, and most folks just never are conditioned to "Look UP"... It is a basic tenant, of any SAR, Military, or other Scouting/Recon, Regime to make UP part of the search Senerio, almost as important as "Straight Down".....

That cat looks like he is checking out dinner. As in Death From Above. As in 100 pounds o' puddy tat on the head if you are not careful. Nice pic!

Dont mean to troll a bit here but I am just wondering if any animal attacks you and you defend yourself what the rules on whether or not there is a season to hunt them??

I've "run into" them quite a few times by looking up.... they're more afraid of you than you are of them and I've NEVER encountered anyone whose been attacked by one let alone even chased by one. Same deal with wolves. Now.... stumble upon a moose with a calf.... run.... run very fast and run very far..... and don't look back.

I believe that you may kill any animal during an attack, but not after (as retribution). Check your local laws.

Nobama got rid of that law. Now Cougars can openly admit they are fruits, and still serve.

    Same here. [ditto]

Wait. Actually, there was this beautiful mountain lion that was in captivity all its life, and it bit a person really bad once...but that doesn't count.

There was a cougar that ate a Peddlebiking Lady down in LA, a couple years back. There have been a few reported attacks in Washington State. My Brother-in-Law defended himself and my sister from an attacking cougar while coming down off a climb of Mt. Olympus in NW Washington, with his Ice Axe, back in the 70's. Usually they are not even seen, but when they are, it is time for "NOT Looking Like Dinner" and moving out in a slow orderly fashion. It is like Bear Encounters, they are fairly Rare, but you just never know if that Bear got up on the Grumpy Side of the bed that morning....

Down here in sunny Florida, Bears, Gators and Panthers are heavily protected species - woe unto the human who kills one! You had BETTER have clear proof it was attacking!

Y'all ever heard a Panther scream? Some say it sounds like a woman being raped and murdered - EERIE!! Like nothing I had ever heard.

In my Security training, we were told people in general "never look up!"
