Replying to private messages was easy.... similar to replying to a thread. Now.... sending private messages.... not so easy and searching for a how-to left me with 500 results.... which sucked. For anyone else new who would like to know how to send a PM.... I found the needle in the haystack posted by ghrit buried in this thread, ]http://www.survivalmonkey.com/forum/back-basics/1502-home-butchering-picture-tutorial-steer-3.html , "To send him a PM, click on his name in the first post (upper left corner) that will open a drop down menu that you can click on a link to send a PM." You don't need to look to a 1st post in a thread... just look over to the left of any person who made a post for the person's username and click on that. Once you click on it you get a drop down box and an option to send a private message is right there. Click on it and you'll be able to start your own PM to that person. If you want to find where your PMs are stored, click on "User CP" that's up toward the top on the left next to "Register" then look to the left and scroll down in the left column for an area where it says Private Messages then look just below that to List Messages and click on it. Voila! All your private messages show up.
Or, go to the upper right corner of the page where it says welcome. Just below that in the same box you'll find a link to private messages.
I don't see a "Welcome" in the upper right hand corner... maybe it's covered up by the live market stock thing. Don't be messing with me.... I'm on a roll. -- Here's a screen shot of the drop down you'll get if you click on a person's name and another screen shot of where they put our private messages. -- Go on everyone.... test it. Send ghrit a few private messages.... just kidding. -- BTW.... screen shots can be made using basic photo cropping software that let's you resize and add text. -- And... the blue wink thingie is made by typing ; + ) only get rid of the + and don't space between the ; and the ). I found that out by accident.
Thanks for the tutorial. The "Welcome' ghrit is referring to is below the Gold and Silver box but above the 'Google Custom Search' box. You should see "Welcome Equilibrium" and a link to Private Messages right below that. You can also find PMs in your User CP. There are a lot of features to this software that could use some 'splainin. Good start!
Nope, the market thing is above the message bar that has the link to your user CP and a lot of the rest of the site links. The welcome box is on the right end of that. It is independent of what page you're on, it's on all of them. I don't think there is a way for you to disable that.
