I found this on another forum. It looks like ATF wants to ban the import of Saiga shotguns. http://www.atf.gov/publications/firearms/012611-study-on-importality-of-certain-shotguns.pdf
Just wait till the gun runner operation keeps coming out to light they are going to have to stick there tongues where the sun dont shine... its stupid so might as well ban everything and get the show started...
They will just start making them here, good, that means more jobs. Fox news has picked up the Gunrunner story, they accessory to murder of a border patrol agent.
Yup all this for trying to check the flow and where the firearms would end up and a BP agent was killed... Opps, someones head should roll for this...
Now some one has introduced the 'non sporting clause' for semi-autos, calling for them to be banned. They don't get the meaning of the 2nd, it is to protect from tyranny also.
"Under one such category, subsection 925(d)(3), the Attorney General shall approve applications for importation when the firearms are generally recognized as particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes (the “sporting purposes test”)." One issue I see with BATFE's methodology here- they don't get to pick what's sporting. The people do. If three gunners want to use a Saiga or other imported semi for the recognized sport, then so be it. This is one of those attempts to circumvent legislation and grab more for yourself. They have tried several times before and failed. Every time the BATFE's ruling on what is and isn't goes up before a court, they lose. The AOW case from SC is a great example. Unfortunately, it will take someone suing to re-allow import if they decide to stop imports. Saiga maybe?
Someone must be paying attention. I just received this in my email: More here: NRA-ILA :: Feinstein Asks President To Tighten Import Restrictions On Semi-Automatic Rifles
and further in the Chicago case, SCOTUS determined that Heller APPLIES to The whole of USA Territory, and not just Federal Lands.....
I was rather worried when checked into this. I think it would affect imports not domestic production from what I read. I still believe the ATF is way over reaching to say the least.
Tromix is just down the road from me. Tony is the biggest saiga converter in the US. He told me these scares have happened before to hang tight and prices would return to normal. I am not sure he has seen this however. I will try and forward it to him. BW
ATF is dealing with tons of crap right now with there GUN Walker and Gun runner operations that literally went south on them and bite them in the Azz... Some people are speculating on these but i dont think they will have something to grab onto to ban these from being imported....
$1000.00? Wow; anybody want mine for that? It has five extra 13 rd mags, three 5 rd, a pistol grip, quad-rail, and collapsible stock.
Sea, if it's a 12 ga with the 19 inch barrel, with all the extras, you could probably get more than that. some nut is trying to sell an unconverted one for 850 here locally. bout double what it's worth.
