Sat Feb 12, 10:50 pm ET WASHINGTON – Texas congressman Ron Paul won the presidential straw poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference for the second straight year Saturday and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney finished second. Paul got 30 percent, while Romney got 23 percent of those who cast votes at the conference in Washington. Paul is a hero to libertarians and has a fiercely loyal following. Others were grouped far behind. Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels were among those in single digits. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, two high-profile Republicans who did not attend, were also in single digits. The poll found the top issues for those at the conference were reducing the size of the federal government, reducing government spending and lowering taxes. The CPAC straw poll was co-sponsored by The Washington Times.
Mike West gave a good ending speech. I could see a Paul/West ticket. Paul is our second chance and Trump has no chance in my opinion.
Paul stands no chance either.......and from his actions in the last cycle, I'm not even so sure he isn't simply an outlet for the frustrated % of voters to foster the illusion we have some say in the matter. TPTB decide who gets to head the ticket for the "two" major parties, and everyone else is eliminated from the competition early on......or like in the case of Ross Perot who surprised them late in the race, gets the "facts of life" explained to them and they go away in order to keep breathing. Anyone that can't see the pattern of this simply isn't looking. Major elections in this country are as controlled as any raghead dictatorship sham election.
I couldn't have said it better myself. Some people just won't listen. They actually believe in the system...imagine that. Sad.
Yeah, but when he announces, he will make them run through a few more hoops before rigging the next puppet president. I'll support him again. The '08 campaign was the only time I've been excited about an election since [think], [hmmm], sometime when I was a kid.
I agree, I will not be forced to vote for the lesser of two evils again. I asked God in prayer about voting for the lesser of two evils. I was given this, The lesser of two evils is still evil. So I voted for Ron Paul in the Michigan Primary. I lost. I did not vote in the presidential election as both are Global Corporatists and both hold global interests instead of our people. The system is so broke there is no fixing it. The united States has been dis assembled from the inside and the wealth re distributed around the world in the greatest and largest communist takeover in history. Redistribution of weath is one of the cornerstones of Communism. In our case it has been the redistribution of industry. It was brilliant and done right on front of our noses sold as free market trade. All the wealth we accumulated prior to the Nafta and G.A.T.T. accords is gone. Protectionism made us the most powerful country in the world. The G.a.t.t. AGREEMENT has bled us to the tune of 30% of our industrial might and still falling. Another company leaves our country every day. But it must fall to get better. The criminals exposed and punished for their crimes. Bush, Clinton, Gingrich, Levin, Pelosi, Gore?? the list goes on. They should all be in prison for what they have done. Kingfish
