well I stand for the side of life, I think if you make it then live with it and if you do not want the child, many people do so give that precious gift to someone who can not have a child and so wants one.. with birth control so easy, and so many ways to "not be pregnant" then there is no excuses is there?. now about that killing of the provider. well God will take care of him or her, I do not judge God will do it all !

you, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat. It is written: " 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.' "So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God" (Romans 14:10-12)

I have always wondered how a person who gets in a car wreck or otherwise accidently kills or harms a pregnant woman can be charged with the death/injury of the unborne child. A doctor preforming an abortion isn't (can't) be. WTF? over.

72% of all abortion providers are liberals. Even I would vote for the bill.

Just kidding. We can't expect too many laws to make sense these days. Less government = more liberty.

I'm a pro-lifer myself, and even though these people who provide abortion are scumbags for what they do, i cannot ordain the indiscriminate killing of these morons.
it is a stupid law at best........then again so is the indescriminate killing of an innocent baby.

Somehow it reminds me of an old saying:
"They can kill you, but they can't eat you...there are laws against that"!

Personally, I think any physician "doctor" that preforms an abortion deserves to die. Now I am NOT saying that I'm an advocate of killing them just that they deserve to die.

I hold with the concept that you reap what you sow and the murder of a baby simply because it's unwanted is one of the most heinous acts I can think of.

I dont have a problem with somebody killing a known murderer who plans on murdering again.

Mother Jones. Hmmmmm. Okay, so I went and read the hysterical article linked to. I say "hysterical" because of the violent rhetoric: "Killing Abortion Providers". Neither the bill nor the proposed amendment mentions abortion providers. I went to read HB 1171 and the proposed amendment. Then I read some more - HuffPost (more hysteria) and other sites. All refer back to Mother Jones, so I went back there to reread. I then noticed the updates.

According to the bill's sponsor, Rep. Phil Jensen: “This code only deals with illegal acts. Abortion is legal in this country. This has nothing to do with abortion.”

UPDATE 2: Jensen is considering adding specific protections for abortion providers to his bill, he told the Washington Post's Greg Sargent on Wednesday morning. He plans to meet with the South Dakota state attorney general on Wednesday to discuss potential changes to the bill. "There's no way in the world that I or any other representatives wish to see abortion doctors murdered," Jensen told Sargent. "So we're looking at some language that will include that. We're looking at some language that would protect abortion providers."

UPDATE 3: Jensen met with South Dakota attorney general Marty Jackley Wednesday and now says he may drop the bill entirely, the Rapid City Journal reports. Any consideration of the measure has been postponed to next Tuesday while Jensen decides on his next move. Another option under consideration, according to the Journal, is "amend[ing] the bill to make it clear that abortion providers don't fall under HB1171's purview." Jensen could do that pretty easily:
Where HB1171 says homicide is justifiable while resisting an attempt to harm a fetus "to a degree likely to result in the death of the unborn child," Jensen could insert four words: "to a degree that is unlawful and likely to result..."
Meanwhile, Mother Jones, the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, NARAL and the usual suspects are making hay, erecting billboards and spreading the story via the Internet while they can. There's not much there, there imho, as the amendment will be dropped entirely, or changed to "protect" abortion providers, which by the way are non-existent in South Dakota. Planned Parenthood fly an abortionist in once a week, but there are no such "clinics" established in the state which has strict laws dealing with the issue.

I'm not trying to take sides, but this is a wet firecracker.

Well, damn. They just had to go and make updates to the MJ article. And I was getting ready to send plane tickets to our elected officials to visit SD and to email all the SD folks that our Elected officials were the ones that make the abortion law so in fact the might even be 'a provider' per se.

Drat, my master plan foiled until then next stupid thing our elected officials do that riles up the populace.

In all fairness, keeping up with the current news is difficult even now as news stories evolve so quickly.

The Slippery Slope is a logical argument, unfortunately it's usually hard to apply logic to issues that are emotionally charged and have fuzzy boundaries.

That being said, to provide a return on your pot stirring:

I do believe that the mother does have a lot of responsibility in the matter BUT they are also victims - more often than not they're grossly misinformed. Most women who get an abortion only do it once but there are those who have come to look upon it as a legitimate method of birth control. There are those for whom ignorance is not an excuse however and I place them in the same category as abortion doctors who know EXACTLY what they're doing - intentionally stopping a heartbeat. That's murder. Now dont get me wrong, I do think that there are some people who deserve to die for their willful actions but an unborn baby is not one of them.

The bolded statement has to be among the greatest "copouts" I have seen for some time now.

The tone (and the actual words) of your post makes it clear that you believe they are "murderers", and that you have no problem with "somebody" killing a "known murderer who plans on murdering again". Logically it would follow that you have no problem with someone killing an abortion provider.

What about those who pay the doctor's bill for the procedure? The hiring of a person to commit a murder is by law and general acceptance equally as guilty as the person performing the act...should they also be fair game? What about a person who would knowingly provide transportation to a woman desiring an abortion...or an abortion provider? What about the people who assist in the business of an abortion provider? Is a CPA who handles the accounts of a doctor who performs the procedure also on your "hit list"?

Keeping in mind that there is much disagreement over when actual life begins, it would seem that you believe that those who disagree with your philosophical point of view in this matter do not deserve to live and killing them would not be wrong.

I personally believe that people who would kill someone based on a philosophical disagreement are a danger to society as a whole. Would I be justified in saying you should be killed...as long, of course, as I include a thin and obviously dishonest disclaimer that I don't advocate actually doing it?
