My first AK refinished

    Did you parkerize or just finish the furniture? It's a little tough to tell the before and after of the metal.

    Just the furniture, but the parkerization is coming soon. That is my next step since there are a few spots that need touched up. Might just use krylon, but will prolly parkerize it.

    I've used them for years now and done many an AK with it ,along with many other weapons .
    I have one that was done back in 96 and it shows no sign of wear !!
    Keep up the good work .

    made a big difference on the furniture, she looks like she just came off the shelf

    thanks and it wasnt hard to redo. just sand off the old finish being careful not to go too deep, then put at least 2 coats of finish on it. I used minwax pecan stain with the clear coat mixed in. I put one coat on let it dry for 24 hours did a sand with fine steel wool then put a 2nd coat on it sanded again with fine steel wool after waiting another 24 hours. After a week I then use a lightly oiled rag (with Hoppes number 9) to give it a shine.
