    Bill S01224
SECTION 1. A special commission after this referred to as the Global Positioning System Locators in Firearms Study Commission, is hereby established for the purpose of making an investigation and study relative to the feasibility of placing Global Positioning System (“GPS”) locators in firearms.
The Global Positioning System Locators in Firearms Study Commission shall consist of 7 members; the House of Representatives Chair on Public Safety and Homeland Security, the Senate Chair on Public Safety and Homeland Security, one member of the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, appointed by the Secretary of the Executive Office and Public Safety and Security, one designee from the Gun Owners’ Action League (“GOAL”), one Chief of Police from a city or town, appointed by the Governor, one designee from the City of Boston Mayor’s Office, appointed by the Mayor of Boston, one designee appointed by the Boston City Council.
The commission shall report to the general court the results of its investigation and study, together with drafts of legislation necessary to carry such recommendations into effect by filing the same with the clerk of the senate before the bill filing deadline for the 2013-2014 general court session.

So, should MA decide that all firearms must have GPS on them, how many criminals do you think will follow the law?[booze]

Whoever proposed that bill needs to be shipped directly to Australia or Mexico.

Geez, ossifer, I dint no it kneaded batteries.

Petruccelli introduced it. Represents East Boston (liberal hotbed, even worse than Bwawny Fwank's district.) Education and service record. Has done nothing but be a Democrat since Rochester.
    Boston College High School
    University of Rochester
    Mass. House (1999-2007)
Mass Senate 2007 (to fill vacancy) to present.

As much of an anal dropping (or is that rectal release?) as he seems, I'd hate to wish him on Oz. Mejico would be fine.

I don't see that working very well for a number of reasons. I also would love to see the privacy issue brought before any court. It's a struggle to have a firearms registry in most* parts of this country, much less a "tracking" system for the firearms themselves.

I am reminded of the FOIA requests lately for CCW holders. That practice is about to be brought down as well. There is opposition in several states to the FOIA releases and it will be decided eventually. To equate the privacy issues here, it would be the equivalent of me being able to request a FOIA on the entire state's Social Security Information. Ludicrous. No judge in his right mind would uphold these violations of individual privacy.

I think a GPS should be put on the automobiles of all legislators and be broadcast via the web, so we can see where and what every legislator is doing at all times.

Gee I believe in "Know thine Enemy". Shall I submit a FOIA request to my county government to get a list of all registered Democrats in my county.
    .
I am making a list and checking it twice, I'm going to find out who is naughty and nice. Gotta be prepared don't you know.

Not really any need. I keep my GPS tracking device with me in the pocket opposite my firearm at all times already.

Next thing, they'll replace the bullets with a cell-phone. "Don't shoot! Just call the Police!"

"Common sense", if you are a daft Liberal Democrat Politician.

So, since they already know where you are with your phone, they want to know exactly where your gun is. This is like minority report, I'll bet it ties right in with the census records too. The ONLY reason for this is gun confiscation. Scenario:
Gun owner refuses to relinquish firearm. 'Suspect armed in hallway of his residence'. Satellite tracking Info relayed to police snipers scope. Take the shot. Boom. Suspect down. I get the picture. Another rule I won't be complying with.
