Freedom Group (Cerberus) Acquires Barnes Bullets

Cerberus Capital Managment (AKA George Soros), through its Freedom Group holding company, has acquired yet another well-known gun industry company: Barnes Bullets. On December 31, 2009, Freedom Group, Inc. entered into a purchase agreement to acquire certain assets of Barnes Bullets.

In recent years, Cerberus/Freedom Group has acquired Remington, Bushmaster, Marlin, H&R, DMPS and other smaller firearms-related companies. By acquiring Barnes, the Freedom Group gains entry into the ammunition component business at a time when brass, bullets, and powder remain in high demand. As the Freedom Group continues to build a vertically integrated firearms-related mega-corp, one wonders if Cerberus will look to acquire a powder-maker next. Freedom Group already sells Remington-brand factory-loaded ammunition.

Barnes Bullets, located in Mona, Utah, is the industry-leading supplier of copper bullets, including copper-tin composite core bullets. Barnes is a major player in the “lead-free” bullet market. This has become important as lead-core bullets have been banned in many hunting areas, and lead-free bullets are required in many indoor shooting facilities. Barnes Bullets will continue day-to-day operations at Utah facility under the guidance of company founder, Randy Brooks.

Ted Torbeck, CEO of the Freedom Group, Inc. stated: “With the acquisition of Barnes, the Freedom Group continues to demonstrate our commitment to the ammunition business. Barnes offers a premium line of high performance bullets for the hunting and shooting communities; and for law enforcement, military and commercial consumers. We are excited about their R&D capabilities and the breadth of the products they bring to our portfolio.”

Freedom Group is now one of the world’s largest producers of guns and ammo. Freedom Group brands include Remington, Bushmaster, DPMS/Panther Arms, Marlin, H&R, NEF, LC Smith, Parker, EOTAC, AAC, Dakota and INTC. The company distributes its products throughout the U.S. and in over 80 foreign countries.

Note :Management is a corporation owned by billionaire George Soros, who for the past decade has been pushing gun control worldwide. This is a major WTF question.

there is no WTF here. He has a plan. While his plan is in motion, he might as well make money off the gun industry, right? If guns ever got banned in the USA, guess what he can do to the rug? yep, he owns so many things, it would literally be an overnight closing of all the shops..

I tell shooters to learn how to reload, quickly, and to buy components. They store easily and don't take up much space.

Lead won't go bad, and neither will copper or brass.

Primers kept in their original containers are as safe as milk. Powder stores well in its original bottles too.

It's a skill, and skills are nice to have in any event. It may become a necessary skill in the future.

Agreed, GB! I made my lifetime stash during the run-up to the failed 2008 "Selection"...... still laying back components as I go.
Make sure y'all have the necessary spares for your guns, gunsmith tools as necessary for your skill level, etc.
This ties right in with our normal prepping. We can see how the Ill Wind will blow in the near future......

Just curious... Where did y'all come up with the idea that Cerberus is owned by George Soros? It's not very hard to Google the info... Here's a page from their website that lists the owners and officers. Biographies

Please note that Soros is nowhere to be found. The founder of the company, Stephen Feinberg is a major contributor to the GOP. The Chairmen of the company are former VP Dan Quayle and former Treasury Secretary under George Bush, Jack Snow.

Seriously... A little research before posting something so ridiculous might be helpful.

Soros has nothing to do with Cerebus.

Google and Wikipedia are not a substitute for research. Try looking up which venture cap firm holds the largest share of Cerberus/Freedom Group.

Sounds easy enough... Go for it. Show me anything that says Soros owns Cerberus, other than tin foil hat websites....

    From the Washington Post:

    A recent article from Bloomberg:

If it was Soros' company, wouldn't it say "Soros' Cerberus Capital Management LP" instead of "Feinberg's Cerberus Capital Management LP"?

Please fill me in. If you can show anything linking Soros to Cerberus, I'll be happy to apologize, but, for now, I see nothing but BS...

p.s. I won't be holding my breath, as I don't believe you'll be able to do it...

Some stuff from the Securities and Exchange Commission's website regarding the Freedom Group, Inc. IPO:

    http://sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1471597/000104746910005410/a2195644zs-1a.htm#bg14901a_main_toc

Note that the Corporate structure is diagrammed on p. 98

At p. 148, it notes that Stephen Feinberg owns or controls 94.3% of the voting stock of Freedom Group, Inc.

    Here's the chart:
Soros is not mentioned in any of the hundreds of pages of SEC filings.

I sorta consider this game... set... match...

I rescind my comment. After doing my own due diligence and looking at the SEC filing.. soros is nowhere to be found. Can we sweep this under the rug as internet rumor?
