what is your thoughts about the Nissian Juke

Ok guys what is your thoughts on the Nissian Juke pocket SUV it all wheel drive and it small compact suv with the rear seat fold down for more stowage space if it need ..

right now i'm driveing a smart car now and looking to upgrade to a new vehicle when i took a test drive the other day after work when i stoped in a the auto mall to pick up my smart after haveing the oil change and wheel rotated on the car..

it not a bad little thing to drive and it does have some neat features on the vehicle ..they are calling it model the start of the socalled the pocket SUV vehicles comeing onto the market in the next few years..

your throughts on the vehicle

it higher setting than the pictures make it look and the ground clearance is about 16."inchs from the ground up

i was looking at because of the need to haul things and the smart is not that great for hauling things around along with most of my driveing i can get into and out of the areas i go into with basic two wheel drive vehicles ..

the smart does great for hauling me around with a few basic loads that does not go over a 120.pds and me in the car and i max out on the wieght real quick on the car limit to handle the weight at 500.pds total wieght the car can handle ..

i have not owned a four wheel drive truck now in just over 4 years since i sold my ford f250 crew cab pick up ..

i just did not need it any more along with the worst weather i faced this year was snow up in the mountains and i handle it ok with chains and driveing slow and keeping my speed down to a level where i keep from doing the stupid stuff that most of the people in front of me where doing in here vehicles.. ..

 

Nice!!! But like B.T. need's a lift kit and grip's on it...

 

UGLY, too small, no off-pavement capability.... did I mention it's UGLY....?

The kind of car you just know it's what Uncle Algore wants us all to drive.

Got two of them here at work in our parking garage. I could imagine the cars parked next to it trying to cringe away from them......

 

it only me in the car with a extra person beening hauled around is one or two of the grandkids when i take them with me ..

i know it ugly but as a single person i not really caring for the socalled looks i looking at what i carry compared to my smart that i have now ..

the place will give me $10,890 blue book for my smart and payment of $289.oo a month and it will make my insurance month rate go up about $10.oo dollar more a month instead of $88.oo a month i paying now for full coverage on my car it going up to $98.oo dollars a month with the same full coverage plan i have ..

what i looking at is the hauling of medium sized loads of supplies to the cabin on a county road with some snow and ice dureing the winter with a few months of raining and wet dirt road driveing to the cabin which sits about 800.yards off the road in back of a dirt road that goes around the mountain area

the road i live on up there is basic AZ backcountry dirt and gravel mix country road out to the homestead in the ShowLow Area of Az .. my main county road is between Pinetop and show Low US 50 & US 77 that runs between the two places and north into Taylor Az area ..then Snowflake is also on the route with 277 comeing into Snowflake ..

most of the time winter travel is not that bad once you get past Prescott heading south into Phx and then up to Flagstaff onto I40 back into La for the long drive there useing I40 interstate and it kept pretty cleared there has been only a couple of times i remember the I40 beening closed down it was because of heavy snows and they where cleared in a matter of days by the AZ highway dept ..

the area does get some snow and ice along with a few months of cold weather that makes the roads a little scary to drive when the black ice is on the road ..

 

If it has 16" of ground clearance,that's better than mamma's jeep..I need to go look at one of these.

 

i messed up on the ground clearance of the vehicle specs i drove had 17.inch wheels with the driver side door comeing up to my knee area and that what i was going on and it was hitting me in the knee area and i'm 6.ft.3.inchs tall when the driver side door was open
..

the whole thing is between 7.inchs to 8.inchs of ground clearance ..so take it for a test drive and see if you like it or not ..

to me it was a comfortable drive and good on the power to handle city traffic driving and i would like to rent one for a weekend and take it over to the place and see how it handles on the county road we have there ..

the 4x4 would be ok for light snow but i don't think it would make it through a lot of pastures around here.

 

i have a problem with getting into and out of vehicles after haveing back and neck surgery and the smart was one of the only vehicles that allows me to get a saight into and out of vehicle..

the Juke does the same thing .so that why i was asking the people thoughts on them

 

Overpriced and undersized/underpowered. That 1.6L 4 banger will burn out pretty quick if you're up against any real terrain or you're towing something larger than a grapefruit. It is turbocharged, but there's not a lot of torque. It's much more car than SUV. At that price point, I'd get something like a Golf TDI or Mazda 3 5 door (on the car side) or the Kia Sportage that Brokor mentioned. It might allow you easy access like the Juke.

 

When my vehicle was in the shop I drove a Sportage. Getting in required going through 6-8" of mud on a switch back grade. Although it could get in; IMO, the power hits too early for off road.

Without knowing at what RPM; that is pretty much useless.

There are times when the suburbians need to travel in the snow without going off road. I have AWD on my outlander.. I've used it frequently during the snow storms in syracuse. It's a must around these parts.

yeah, they used the wrong vowel in "Juke".. should be "Joke".

 

I love my honda element... at 6'2" with a bad back/neck it's a perfect car.... back seats fold up and theres plenty of room... not 4wd but i'v taken it some places that 4x4 weer reccommended... 25 mpg on the highway....

 

One of my riding buddies has an Element and likes it. He describes it as having some sort of 'All Wheel Drive" that only kicks in when needed. Of course, if ya go 'offroad', by the time the sensor realises the AWD is needed, it'll be too late.

Too many people don't realise, AWD and 4X4 are two different things, for different purposes.

The Element is alone among the various 'toasters' as something I kinda like, and could maybe see myself getting - someday.......
