I am looking for a daily carry Taurus PT92 on the cheap. Function is important, looks are NOT. Poor finish and or scratches etc are preferred. I have a 9mm that I DO NOT carry now because I do not want to ruin it. Pre-worn is good. Would also be interested in a beretta 92 if the price was right.

Contact info and email on my profile.

    HuntinBull,

Watch out for the early models (1980's)
Barrel wobble when in battery on some guns.
made for a piss poor 7yard gun.
good for chucking lead in the general direction but sucked at getting holes in paper.

their pt99 of same era was a better and had better sights (adjustable). fit and finish was better. maybe a 50.00 premium over pt92

I would go with a Polish Radom (P64) Makarov clone in 9mm Makarov, personally. Maybe pick one up for around $200, buy a new 18 lb. Wolff hammer/trigger spring for it, or even some custom wood grips (highly recommended), and you are set. For less than $260 you can have a highly dependable, light, very accurate handgun. It fires 6 round mags, and with HP's can pack a good wallop. And when I said accurate...I really meant accurate.

But I also agree with what VT said. Older Taurus is quite "Meh".

I've never shot the Taurus version but the beretta 92 is a great pistol! DO NOT settle for a "ninety-two". There are lots of used berettas floating around and if you can find a good one i'd go with it.

M9A1s with rails are finding their way out and there's a civilian version with rails now too. I don't know you said daily carry/conceal though.

Taurus 92 and 99 may be carried cocked and locked like 1911,the Beretta can not.
The tooling was bought from Beretta.

That's pretty cool! I bet a used Taurus is less expensive too.

I don't... not what you wanted to hear, but....

I once bought a police trade in Beretta 92 for around $400. They can be had cheap. Check Shotty News. The Beretta would be my choice over the Taurus any day of the week. Get good Italian or US Beretta magazines. Some of the Check-Mate contract mags were bad. There are fixes for those that involve polishing the parkerizing smooth on the inside if you don't mind the trouble.

The Beretta has the advantage in that mil mags are plentiful. The Taurus doesn't take the same mag to my knowledge.
