Saw this and thought it was pretty cool... never really thought of them... gotta try and see if they work...

Aluminum Foil Tips - 5 Tips For Using Aluminum Foil Video

Did a search and couldn't find an aluminum foil thread... pretty handy stuff... make sure you have some in your Bag... all kinds of uses out there too...

Compact, light, holds water, reusable ( get the heavy duty stuff )... moldable for your use... sanitary...

Any other thoughts out there?... would love to hear them... I have heavy duty aluminum in all my bags and in the cars....
Pretty cheap when it goes on sale... I stock up and store it ... keeps well too.....

That's about it.... sorry if this has already been shared.... I'm an old fart, that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it....

    Nice tips.

as an aside, the melbo household switched over to Gold Foil back when it was $450/oz. Has all the same benefits except that I know it will last forever since "you can't eat it'!

    they left off some uses:
    1) sandwich 2 layers al-foil with saranwrap between
connect a wire to both sheets of foil then roll it all up
make sure the 2 layers of foil dont touch
you now have a very large capacity capacitor for storing dc voltage
    2) cut a roll of foil into long narrow strips, overlap the ends and fold them together
cover one side with tape or cellophane, add a wire to each end and wrap around
a piece of iron, when you apply DC voltage you will have a serious electromagnet
    3) you can cast emergency small metal parts by melting foil down and pouring it in a mold, the foil melts easy
    4) it can be used as a mold for casting candles or soaps in a shape you like

I cut a length of 1-1/2" cell core PVC to fit the cheapy rolls years ago. Cap one end and put a female adapter on the other end. Screw a plug in and viola! - a very strong storage location for your foil/wax/plastic wrap. I can't even keep the cardboard box in good shape just storing it on a shelf in the cupboard so I needed a stronger storage solution. A little bulky and a tad heavy but it works great for taking foil/wax/plastic wrap truck camping. If you like the larger rolls make a 2" tube.

    Other uses for foil......

    1) Spread on the bottom of your charcoal grill, before adding bricquettes. Makes for easy cleanup after everything cools.

    2) Wrap your clear plastic dry food storage jugs, to prevent light getting to the food.

    3) Wrap your cell phone when travelling, to prevent Big Brother tracking you.......

    4) Cover the barrel of your rifle, then apply 'non-stick'... prevents glueing the barrel of your rifle to the stock when bedding it.

    5) A small piece can be used as a 'reflector' when lost in the wilderness - use the 'shiney side'.....

ummmm.....one could drop tons of foil strips from 20,000 ft to fool radar operators....

Not near as effective today, as this was back 60 years ago, due to Synthetic Aperture, and Mutli-Frequency, Radars, being used in todays World. .... YMMV....

That is exactly right. "They would never see it coming". Simply because it would never show up on their displays, as todays Radar Displays are ALL digitally processed, and the Information Processors will filter out any of these that type of returns, from the display. Isn't technology FUN.... YMMV....

I still get a hearty laugh when I watch "Iron Eagles III", with the old codgers flying the WWII figthers against the Central American jets. The Brit in the Spitfire 'deploys CHAFF!' - he tosses a ROLL of aluminum foil overboard....... BWAHAHAHA!!!!

Only in Hollywood could that work......

You can only use aluminum as a mold for "melt-and-pour" soap.
If it's from "scratch" the lye will react with the aluminum and give you funky-looking soap.
