was just discussing this in another forum
discussing also setting up some kind of support system
for people facing these kinds of threats
local govt needs to learn when to back off
    same for homeowners groups

    That's bullsh*t.

That's zoning and HOAs today. It doesn't have to make sense. It just has to keep the faux housing prices up. Forget real tangible worth.

The family I am staying with is in a tightly restricted HOA area. Its ridiculous what these people deem important. I am glad its only temporary. Its kind of nice being the neighborhood redneck, though.

To avoid this problem, she should have just put it in the backyard.

    Heaven help her now.

It's the nail that sticks out that get pounded down. Especially now that BO signed Executive Order 13575. I can imagine the DOD , HUD and Homeland Security raiding her soon. Tearing up her front yard with tracked vehicles. They will probably get her for possessing / discharging an illegal pepper spray when they run over the Jalapeño.

Then they will look around her 'farm' and notice that she has meat rabbits in the garage, chickens in the small tool shed tucked in behind the inflatable pool and send in the Department of Ag because her animals aren't tagged per their proposed NAIS rules. They will confiscate her operation, destroy her animals and fine her into the ground.

If that's not enough when they are done with her she'll be brought before the World Court in the Hague and be interrogated about her and her unindicted co-conspirators and their plans and activities to actively resist the UN's Agenda 21

Welcome to AgriBusiness Lockup Baby. Hope you got soap on a rope.

(this has been a ridiculous exageration of what is in store for the rest of us small farmers. They can have my farm after they pry my cold dead hands off my guns, knife, sling shot and shovel. Back off bastards, I've got a hoe and now how to use it!)

    Peace Out!

I think us Monkeys are locked on this one because its a garden. I don't think it being a garden has anything to do with the intent of the city. The same thing would happen if you put too much grass on your front lawn at my old neighborhood in AZ. There was actually a SF limitation.

Whether its pink flamingos, rusted out old vehicles, a vet's US flag, or something else... all the sheeple care about is property value. That's what they are worried about. If it looks tacky, they think they will lose value.

    HS,

Yep, it's about keeping up prop values. But here in Michigan, they can only go up.

Oak park should do a survey of their burg. There are a lot of vacant properties, dilapidated homes. There are a couple of differences here.

    1) it's a garden and not 3 foot tall weeds filled with the trash that came rolling in from the vacant shopping mall across the street.

    2) Some one actually lives here that they can extract money from.

You know how all the green stuff that gets pushed on people.
It has always amazed me that one of the worse things to have in your yard is*
    Grass.*
For grass to look good you need to water it, waste water.
You have to use fertilizer, contamination the ground water.
You have to use chemicals for weed control and insects control,
    Again contamination *ground water.

You have to use gas and oil to keep it mowed.

Well anyways we could do much better if grass wasn't required
    In everyones yards.

The biggest problem is we don't have any property rights.
We never truly own any property, this is the biggest decline in
Freedom and self-sufficiently in our country. Once any government office
Whether local, regional or national has the right to dictate what you can
Do on your property and the ability to that possession of your property from
You, then there is no freedom.

LOL I just heard on talk radio last week that more people ask the Chemlawn guy if it will harm their pets instead of if it will harm their children.

I don't know how much money the local gov expects to make off a little old lady.

Glad I live in a neighborhood where nobody cares what the next guy or gal is doing on their property. Want a garden? Knock yourself out!
Want a privacy fence? Build it - 'they' won't come and tell ya to tear it down.
Want an outbuilding? Lowes has the lumber, go for it.
My neighbor has a little garden in his front yard - not enough sun in his backyard. He and his elderly mom are on very limited incomes, and even running water for it can be difficult to afford - I sometimes run my lawn sprinkler a bit over my edge onto theirs and help out.

Detroit - that alone speaks volumes....... [beat]

well, the whole country decided to collectively bet the house on... well, the house actually, back at the end of the .com bust. since that clever plan turned out the way that clever plan always does sanity should start trickling back in. brought a flicker of warmth to the cockles of my heart, it did, the very first time i saw "no HOA!" as a selling point for a house.
