This definitely tells you why you do not want to be in a big city when SHTF. One freeway is shut down and the city is hosed for normal traffic, just imagine an emergency situation. 'Carmageddon' threatens to wreak havoc in L.A. - CTV News
Prudent folks will just stay home for that weekend, or go the other way out of town and circle around. That said, we all know a bunch of idiots will get balled up right in that mess, and complain.......
LOL. South east Michigan use to have serious congestion. Now that we've lost nearly 1MM manufacturing jobs, house values that plummeted, 4.00 gas, and nearly 25 percent unemployment/under-employment; lots of people have left the state. The roads are pretty clear now. Wonder how many sheeple are going to die that weekend being stuck in traffic that doesn't move for 53 hours because they are too stoopid to be prepared even though they had a months warning.
The largest city near me has 75K and I get pissed off at the lights and traffic when I have to go there. Can't even imagine how the people in LA deal with it daily, think I would loose it.
I have always told people that LA is the largest parking lot in the world, especially during rush hour traffic. But am beginning to think that Phoenix is a close second now a days. I moved out of phoenix 16 years ago, and have only been back down there a handful of times. Mostly to the airport.
I bought 20 of 80 acres surrounded by 1000's of commercial planted pines. What a wonderful hidden woodland oasis. I had a deeded easement. I cleared and blazed the road in. I cleared and brought power in (1.2 miles). I maintained and mowed that easement for over a decade without any help. I cleared my home locations, 1st one now a rental, and dream home under construction. Over the years all the other 60 acres have sold and resold multiple times. I now have 7 families living back here including me. Used to be. every vehicle coming in was cause for investigation and challenge as to why they were there, and who were they. Now days there is so much traffic on my 1.2 mile road, I have to pull over for an oncoming vehicle to pass, at least once or twice a week. It's just getting too damn crowded, and the road traffic is intolerable.
Now that is a crying shame...to bad you couldn't make your road a private toll road...something to help supplement your income...
