I have been working on several survival bags one for my vehicles, one I carry with me and then one for the home. Along with medical supplies, ammo, long term food and water storage. Even on plans of what is the best way to pack my supplies to be loaded incase me and my family have to grab and run. wheather it be a natural disater or a man made disaster we have to be prepared if we plan to survive. Anyway I have a few tips to share if anyone is interested and always looking to learn new ones from like minded people if you have any to share. I dont remimber who said it but it caught my eye when I seen it. It read ( If we want peace then we must prepare for war ) I try to live by that as a rule and it has saved my butt countless times

Cache in your area may save you space and not have to carry around a lot of stuff.

Ive got a couple I have also been using a vaccum sealer to pull the air out that helps make some space plus protects and keeps your clothes or equipment dry.

i beleive the phrase is "pray for peace but prepare for war", don't know who said it but i remember hearing it for the first time while in boot camp at parris island. it has always stuck with me.

If You Want Peace, Prepare for war : The original Latin of the expression "if you want peace, prepare for war" comes from "Epitoma Rei Militaris," by Vegetius (Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus). The Latin is: "Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum."

Also Known As: Si vis pacem, para bellum

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
With a grab and go I do like my 5gal buckets. Coolers, plastic containers and boxes are good. There is so much info here and in many other places on staying in place or grab and go or having a retreat. If you grab and go where will you go?
If you stay, for how long? How many people? Do your 'friends' know what you have?
A trailer might work, fully supplied. What route? You need others in your 'group'. Sheesh too much to cover, someone aught to write a book on it. LOL

"Bug Out Remedies" Vols 1,2, and 3. Good primer to start with. I might write a more in-depth series if I have time to cover escape and evasion as well as advanced prepping.

I know I have found so many diff. forms of info on stay put or grab and go. So me and the wife kind of set down and took a little bit of several diff. book sand articles we found and made us 2 plans one for staying put and one for grab and go. The only thing that really worries me if we did have to jumpship is being on the move with the baby. She turns a year old in Sept. and I am sure you guy's have went over some of the same what if in your head as I have so I'm trying to cover all of my bases.

Hammer-sent you a PM. We are set to bug in but are prepared to go if need be. We have a virtual house stored in old Aluminum military shipping containers-and one plastic one. Practically all our preps are in easily transportable sized containers plus we keep a few of the flip top plastic shipping boxes to load kitchen stuff into. All the towels/etc. would go into large double lined plastic bags we keep under them and ready. We have an old but sturdy double axle camper at the ready so we could maintain a good degree of comfort. Would be ashamed to pull the thing into a campground but when things "pop" it would be a mansion sitting deep into the retreat area. Working on having solar power to set up to be totally self sufficient. A bud has one set up already that make me so envious. All our reloading presses etc. are mounted onto 2x6s so they can be taken also and clamped to most any surface. This Oct we will have our fall gathering by the lake/range and it will be themed a "Bug Out" exercise. Come join the fun. Will post later w/ details.

Glad you are prepping man. If this default stops everybody's checks they will be out in the streets.
Here's my bags, The hemp bag is for bicycle recon. The small bag goes everywhere with me and the large bag and vest will be for 'game on'.
Here's a nice layout, for the big bag, but not enough clothes in it.

I guess its been around 7 years the last time I was there and Its starting to get hard to come up with good surplus in my area. As soon as I can get my hands on a few Ill post some pic's most of them. I ran across a guy about 2 years ago at a local flee market that had 10 or 15 of them but I missed them betime I got to the bank and back they were gone. I like the bags BAT1 have a couple need a couple more. Im kind of thinking the samething about this budget deal. It could get ugly quick most of the people in this area get goverment checks have never worked a day one. I think Ill have a bit of a edge on them because I was born poor and had to learn to make due with what I had.

Yeah, I love those small bags, like the one pictured on the left of Bat's post. I have one in Marpat and it is made by Condor and ran me about $30. Tough as nails, too.

Our BO is in three levels. First are the BO/GH bags that we keep at the ready or with us. They are set for three day. Second are the backpacks/web gear and set for three weeks. Thirdly are the containers and are for indefinate stays. We keep various calibers in ammo cans for easy moving. Everything is "one man" capable so as not to slow bugging out when needed to go. The EMP radio box is a two handled thing and the "kitchen" box is also a bit heavy.

I carry one if the small packs with me every where I go with a small survival kit, Ammo and extra 1911 mags, MRE and rope. A friend of mine who is just starting and trying to catch up ask me the other day why I kept the bag close by when I told him what it was for. Then I explained to him that having all the supplies in the world is not going to help if you are out when the SHTF and can't get to your supplies.
