I need to obtain values for severl used rifles and pistols. What is a good source for the value? Thanks
Gunbroker is typically high, but more and more are matching the prices there. Typically I expect to buy a bit lower locally. I expect to pay even lower on a gun show. Gunbroker is a good place for new guns. I managed to swing a few new ones below market prices. There are more products than buyers on new items it seems.
I've heard Boston's Gun Bible by Boston T. Party is recommended, but a search at Amazon reveals there are many other books too (search "used gun values") -- if you want to go the "book" route. Like Gator, I'm curious to see what you're selling... Not that I can afford anything right now :^(
I have seen widely varying prices among the various Gun Value books and the online sites - hit many of them and take an average of prices, and also factor in how scarce that type gun is in your AO. For instance, hunting rifles are a flooded market here, so values tend to run low. But good lesser seen milsurps are scarce, and command premium prices! A lot of the books don't take into account the differences in models either - I check on the rimfire rifles - ALL Mossbergs are listed under ONE heading and price range, while collectors have run the values of certain models much higher! Some auction sellers seem to think all their guns are 'collector grade'.
Several collector's on board...You may be able to move a few here/or get a idea how much coin they are worth..Post some pictures and a description....Just say'n....
Yeah, you won't have any problem selling the M1's for sure, unless you are asking insane amounts for them, and even then who knows. There's a sucker born every minute. Gunbroker is "okay", as has already been covered, but it's by no means a final marker on pricing. Many of the used guns there are WAY above average pricing, with new guns going at decent values overall.
www.ArmsList.com is free for listing guns and other gear for sale. I used the service a while back for both buying and selling because you can search by state and locale (and did I say it's free).
try a standard catalog of firearms or blue book of gun values both may be at the library. As to the carbines the make matters if they are old universals watch out they break.
If you know anyone at your local gun shop talk to them most of the time if you know them and talk to them about what you are wanting to do.They will give you what they would pay for it then add $25.00 to a $100.00 to that. Just be careful I do a little gun trading here and there and it is a cut throat world, I have been schooled a few times myself.
