I wonder just how many New Monkeys will be joining up, next week from the SoCal area? I see a lot of new inquiries over on the SmokStak site, this morning about "My Generator doesn't put out any Juice, and I gots to get the AC and Fridge going.".... and there are a few that posted that their Gensets worked just fine and they had cold Beer and lights...... It will be interesting to see, if there are any changes in the next week or so.... Oh yea, I wonder if many got to see Obummers speech, as it went down at 4:30Pm local....

Big Blackout in SoCal... from Orange County to the Mexican Boarder..... 4:30 yesterday afternoon... Power will be out in some areas for a few days.... due to the restart cycle of an effected Nuke Plant, that scammed during the cascade failure..... It all started by a Power dispatcher in Aridzonia tripping the wrong 500Kv Line, and went south from there.... VERY BIG Mess.... No Gas No ATMs, No Traffic Lights, NO Nothing....

A good test of folks preps (or the lack there-of!) in that AO. And should be a huge wake-up call to the local Goobermints there, AND the citizens.

Whether they take and understand the lesson...... [dunno]

i find it amazing how badly people rely on power

Mornin' Bruce. It was not just there that power loss was affecting people with their gennies. I read a couple of posts from back east about the same things. One man had a gennie for 5 years and never ran it. Hmmm guess you all know the way that one turned out. When will people learn, that once a gennie gets gas in it, you cannot just ignore it untill you really need it. You will need to run it every couple of weeks for at least an hour to keep it up, lots of stabil in the gas and constantly refresh the gas.

I fire mine up monthly just to keep it where it starts on one pull. Even if all it does is run a leaf blower or electric saw, that's enough to prove it works. So far (other than the initial test), it's been used once to power the house. Made the expense of the electrical work worth it. Took two years of picking away at the job, but done in time. (Rolled the dice on that and got away with it.)

Mornin' all. Listen, if you fit the above cat. and have a gennie and never take the time to start it and power something up with it, keep in mind that winter is fast approaching and with it comes the white stuff and even worse, Ice Storms. That means that a lot of you will be doing without power for some time. Best start taking care of the gennie. And while your at it, check out your extension cords, bad insulation, plugs etc.
