I have never carried when I go to the salon to get my hair done...but I guess that will change, because I have an apointment tomorrow. I am fortunate enough to live in one of the best states for cc or open carry, but even here we had this same type of tragedy (trolley square). We have been discussing this on another site, interesting to think about how prepared you would be if this went down while you were present...or how your wives/girlfriends would handle this is they were on their own.

Because it is in CA it will probably be made into an opportunity to restrict further that states gun laws.

Good luck getting your CCW permit in Calif...
there... they give them out at Sheriffs discretion... in other words if you make a substantial contribution to the reelection fund... he might let you get one...

When i was growning in in Mass it was the same. My father took me to the range every week for a year, etc. and when I went to get a permit they about laughed me out of the police station.

Hm. I had no problem in Mass, none at all. Lived well west of Worcester at the time, might have had something to do with it. That area is WAY different from the coastal cities. (Didn't get it rescinded when I moved to Ipswich, that local chief was one of the good ones.)

I grew up in one of those little coastal towns on cape cod. My father wanted me to have a permit for when I did the bank deposits for his business in his absence but it didn't get approved for protection.

That was 20 plus years ago and I've carried a long time. I guess what struck me was how unprepared I was in little day to day things that I do.

When I'm alone or it's late or im in an unfamiliar area, especially alone with my kids I am completely on my toes. But, everyday I drive the same way each day to pick up my kids from school, get a few things quick from the store or go get my hair done and I don't carry and I'm a little on auto pilot thinking about dinner etc. I think it is a little different for men who have done extended active duty stuff because you have to be on all the time.

I'm in CA, looking to get my CCW. Good thing I donated to the Sheriff Xmas fund.
