GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) — A Southern Oregon man who was stopped leaving a high school football game earlier this month is back in custody after authorities say searches of his house and car turned up military rifles, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and a novel about a sniper killing people at a football game.
Investigators don't know if Raphael Enrique Amoroso of Grants Pass was planning a sniper attack, "but we were very concerned about it," Grants Pass police Sgt. Ray Myers said Thursday. "As the case developed, it became more troubling with the information that we were receiving."
Federal authorities this week asked that Amoroso, 27, be held without bail while they investigate charges of having a gun on schools grounds and being a marijuana user in possession of a gun.
Amoroso has not been indicted, Assistant U.S. Attorney Judy Harper said.
He initially was released after his Oct. 7 arrest on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana after leaving a high school football game in Grants Pass.
In the car, police found an ounce and a half of marijuana, a loaded gun in the glove compartment, and 200 rounds of rifle ammunition, as well as the sniper novel, according to an affidavit filed by a federal agent.
Police went to the house Amoroso shares with his mother five days later looking for evidence of manufacturing marijuana, Myers said.
A search warrant shows items found there included military rifles from World War I, World War II and the Korean War; hundreds of rounds of ammunition; a fuse; a single-shot shotgun; a helmet, a camouflaged bulletproof vest, a .22 pistol; books; and a computer.
Myers said instructions on making a bomb, anti-government literature, military training books, and gunpowder also were found.
It was unknown if Amoroso had an attorney; a call to the federal defenders' office wasn't immediately returned.
Amoroso's criminal history includes an arrest when he was a 15-year-old honor student and member of the swimming team at Grants Pass High School, The Grants Pass Daily Courier reported. He pleaded guilty to third-degree assault for shooting a pellet gun at a jet boat filled with tourists passing by on the Rogue River.
The pellet hit a man in the cheek. Amoroso was sentenced to 90 days in juvenile custody.

It looks to me like a puzzle being put together, just a few peice's trimed to fit in a different slot. You see it all the time these guy's go in and dig through people's stuff and put together what they want you to see. Here it is a guy who drink's beer and smoke's weed yes DUI but throw the gun in the glove box he probaly shouldn't have had being intoxicated but. Still just a DUI then throw two hundred rounds in that he had probaly stopped and picked up earlier that day from a gun shop still just a DUI. Now where the trick come's in the guy was leaving a highschool football game ok now we put the school in it People think about Colinbine ok we search his house he has sniper book and some mil suplus guns and ammo. Boom we have a domestic terrorist. when in all reality you have an ol boy who like's to drink beer smoke weed, watch football, collect old military guns and shoot guns. That is me just change the smoke weed to dip snuff and it's me.

And there will be many many more of these yet to come.....
Anyone, regardless of IF they smoke, dip, drink, or watch football, will be suspect! Put guns of ANY type into an equation and Janet Napolitano is gonna come looking! That's just the way it is and it WILL get worse!
Now if you dare to pass gas,( in public anyway) you'll be labeled a bio-terrorist! Welcome to the new insane world!

Hey Pax, is that you???...Just joking, I know your older then that. Total BS to try and fabricate a story like this. Most people I know here have guns and ammo in their vehicles and it is no big deal. I think Grants Pass PD, just like every other .goob organization, is just trying to justify their jobs to keep them. Josephine County SO has been cut back so much that if you live in the country, you are basically on your own until after something happens and they get around to coming out. So the GPPD has to make up S to look like they are needed there.

They actually like people who watch football. Bread and circuses. Welfare and Dancing with the Stars/Football. Keep the masses fed and entertained and they will overlook all sorts of indulgences.

BTW, Rawles wrote about this type of profiling in his book Patriots...

Alpha Dog is correct. Johnny Law will look back through a person's past to find anything that will corroborate what they want people to see.... never mind all the scandals they were caught in setting people up/fabricating evidence.

Read the book Enemies Foreign and Domestic by Matthew Bracken....this exact thing happens all throughout the book. One warning, that book will get you pretty steamed...and make you sick because it is almost reality.

I've said this previously...if I ever got pulled over, then what I have bought and read in the past 6 months examined, I'm sure I'd be under surveillance and have stuff planted on me just to get me off the street....even though I'm just a regular guy. But to them....why do people need bulk food and ammo...and god forbid a book on escape and evasion and how to clean your AR-15? Why do you need that gun anyway...why not just a 1893 Nagant??

Read that book! You'll be glad you did.

Actually I had to chuckle a bit.

Let's see, I live near Grants Pass, am likely at any given time to have at least 2 guns and 100 or so rounds of ammo in my car and have Enemies Foreign and Domestic by Matt Bracken (it starts with a government provocateur sniper shooting folks at the Superbowl) in my home. Prior to the boating accident I would have also had numerous "military style" guns, gunpowder and a semi-auto shotgun...as well as a military text on making booby traps. I am sure the present administration would consider a number of my books to be "anti-government"...but, with the current folks in DC, the constitution could be considered anti-government.

My wife is a medical marijuana patient and I have a caregiver card, so it would also not be unusual to find an ounce or so of pot in my car and/or house.

If the JoCo Sheriff wasn't a friend, I might have to go into hiding...

I'm willing to bet a shiny silver coin that this is exactly the book they found.

And it scares the s&*t out of them. Not because they fear he's planning any kind of shooting spree...they could give a crap about one sheep and any victims. They're fully aware that more and more people are awakening to the corruption & tyranny that they represent and that the gravy train's going to be coming to a screeching halt sooner than they'd like.

Mean time nobody with any power will go to bat for the guy and the rest of his life may be drastically affected. They seriously can't see the backlash coming either. They still think they are immune from the consequences of their tyranny. [loco] The power damaged mind. It makes me sad for the future of my nieces and everybody else's.

I have worked with many LEO's ,some good and some not...I have lost a job as I refused ( as an officer of the court) to falsify a report. I have seen them come and go. Most of them are ok, and they have no qualms about burning abad cop, but then again...
I have seen friends quit departments due to the corruption. It's rampant in all phases. We recently had a ME here discharged, as she was making up crap as facts on her reports. Like I said, they come and they go. Problem is where do they go...? Some bad apples seem to travel like a carnival, in circles until the current admin changes, and the next thing you know, they're back!
Give some people a little bit of authority, and it goes to their heads!
I have seen people I thought I knew, put on the uniform and the badge, and they became tin Gods! They were beter than anyone else, could do NO wrong, and they were the worst you can imagine. But times are really changing and I don't see any light at the end of this dark tunnel!

There is not one amongst us or any group that could be found 'innocent' giving the power, money and time that a devoted tyrannical government could bring to bear to build a case against us.

ok, maybe not the Dali Lama or Mother Theresa. I'm thinking that the rest of us fall a bit short of them in one way or another.

Standard MO, hold them until you can charge them with anything. Then decimate them, their reputation, hopefully they commit suicide because if they can't convict, you are gonna have one really pissed off free individual that just may go nutty on your azz.

I like to read book's of different commander's around the world and I had a couple Lt's and a sheriff or two come by at different times and they seem to be pulled to my book shelf. I've had to explain to several of them about why I read this. I have read Art-of-War, Mein Kampf, Nepoleain, Gaingus Con, The Anarchist ccok book, the poor mans jaames bond. Just different forms of combat methods. One of the bigest I have to explain is Mein Kampf. I know Hitler was a crazy cold killer but he also had the power to take a whole Country that he wasn't from and put them into the palm of his hands. the term Mein Kampf means my personal struggle. You learn so much to read and study the commanders and generals and it's stuff you use every day in life. Several of the books I own are on that gooverment list. They are trying to control what we read, what we buy, and how we live. You mark my words in the next five years they will be outlawing certain book's and we as citizens wont be able to possess them.
