Some backstory, the police did an early morning raid on OWS Oakland, and bloodied some people up and forced them to leave. They are trying to retake the city hall lawn, but it appears they are outgunned. Looks like the person in the video getting carried away got nailed in the head with a rubber bullet. Looks like a war-zone.

Or a right hook from a counter protestor. More cameras out to see the protests than protestors.

It's amazing how quick these we are here to save the worl and right the wrongs of the evil. When the smoke and tear gas starts to fly they scatter like raoches when the light are turned own. If they want to help get a job and support the econemy. As for the head wound when you refuse to comply with lawful order's and take over an area. It is an act of aggression and it will be met with aggression. So put a bandaid on it man up and either quit or get you A$$ back to the front line. Which this one will go home drool on him self and file suit on his losses. What I can't understand is when they do file suit is how can it be over loss when you didn't have a job to lose anything from.

You guys keep telling them to get a job. You act like there is a surplus. Not in California. 25% real unemployment. More videos.

That guy who was wounded in the first video...

Veterans for Peace member Scott Olsen was wounded by a less-lethal round fired by either San Francisco Sheriffs deputies or Palo Alto Police on October 25, 2011 at 14th Street and Broadway in Downtown Oakland.

    So he was a veteran.

I seen that but still they were given a lawful order to leave and wanted to act as if they didn't have to. At which point they stepped up the aggression level and these things start to happen. If the leaders of this protest had followed the rules this would have been avoided. Our LEO's are task with trying to keep the peace and prevent these protest from turning in to an all out war like in other countrie's. Now if the police or Deputy's hadn't stepped in and this group had started to riot and tax paying citizen's get hurt who will the people blame then? Ill tell who the L.E.O. I would almost bet over half of these people are not even citizen's of Oakland. They are coming from other town's to act out and start the trouble and then go back to their quiet homes. The Police didn't just roll up and start popin off rounds these people was warned and failed to take the warning. I just fear this is not the end and things are going to get alot worse. What I do enjoy about this is the fact I would bet that atleast 80% of these people are the same one's that was running aroud with the T-shirts, bumper sticker's and throwing the parties on elction night. They wanted change and now they have it. Oduba$$ for change.

Your go-getter attitude is great, but when thousands of people have applied for the same job as you, when there is a job fair with a line that can't let everyone in during the day, it's harder than you might think. I picked a good industry to be in, my knowledge has guaranteed me a job thus far, so I am an outside observer, but I have friends in this boat.

Now, California and Texas have the most deaths by state in the Occupation of Iraq and Afghan, thus it'd go to reason that we have the most troops in combat. CA and TX are also MORE patriotic than the rest of the states, but there are also more vets coming back home to this situation. That's ON TOP of the fact that our .gov treats vets like **** and doesn't take care of them when they get home. CA also HAD one of the best and still have one of the largest university programs in the country. So there are Vets and graduates everywhere applying for the same jobs. On top of that, we had huge growth in our housing and population before 2008. So, there's a whole ton of people without jobs, foreclosure is everywhere.

So your attitude is great, but lets put it in perspective. You can leave, sure, but with what money? What about your family. There's no jobs anywhere. For every job someone gets, that means someone lost their job. Businesses are laying people off, job growth is negligible. I think you're missing the current situation by about a decade.

These protestors are angry. They've been lied to. They were told that if you wanted to work, you could have a job. This is America, but that's not the way it's happening. The college degree they were told was O so important, which they went into a deep level of debt for, is useless. Everyone has one. The proud badge of military duty won't get you a job either. Put on top of that an obviously corrupt system and a deteriorating faith in our "elected" representatives, AND add people realizing that the whole system was meant to screw you. It's a boiling cauldron of anger and hopelessness.

So, when the enforcement arm of the system that is screwing you tells you that you need to stop protesting and go home, you say **** YOU! And then you've got a fight. Breath deep brother.

Also on top, we've been told we have to compete on the global market with our goods. So we have to compete with sweat shop labor, which OUR OWN FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS ENABLE! So to get a job, you need to compete with child labor. Awesome!

I don't disagree with you. I believe however that a large majority of the people protesting don't know what the want. They want something and they voted for it in 08' they got screwed so they are protesting for something else. When that comes along it won't be good enough either. Our entire society is a take take take. If you give as soldiers do there are jobs. Are they in your back yard, nope but there are jobs. There is still no valid reason for staying under and oppressive government like komifornia.

They got exactly what they deserved, under the Statutes of the State of California. If you are "Breaching the Peace" and NOT "Dispersing as Instructed" you ARE subject to such Police Action, under the Statutes. To Bad, So Sad..... Life is Tough, and then you Die..... How many Bottles and Rocks were thrown (Felony Assault on a Police Officer) at the Police, BEFORE this video was shot? How Many times did the Police, announce to the crowd that the "Assembly was Illegal", and the people needed to disperse? Once those determinations were made, Then anyone still in the area and NOT Leaving, is committing a CRIME, and needs to be arrested and brought before a Judge. The whole point of using non-lethal munitions, is to break up the crowd, into small enough groups, that the Police can make those Arrests, PERIOD, and that was EXACTLY what they were doing, and that is all, CORRECT, and LEGAL, under the Statutes of California, PERIOD. If you do NOT like it, CHANGE THE LAWS, with your VOTE, not your fist. My Opinion.... YMMV....

Persoanally, I think the crowds are 'occupying' the wrong places......

Think "Government".... the State capitols, and the Nation's Capitol - that is where the true problems lie. Go to the source, root them out, make them justify their existence.

Don't worry, they will get there sooner or later.

I am not cool with the flash bang of the group trying to help the injured serviceman.

Tensions are heightening. Sooner rather than later one of the po po's (whether instigated or not) is going to kill someone.

And that my friends will be the day that this thing truly turns ugly.

If the serviceman dies, remember the LA riots? bwahahhahaa, I thinking the police are going to need some more people or close off the city to all forms of travel.

One observation: I find it interesting that the original video was from Russian Television.

I can't decide how I feel about these "takeover" demonstrations, but it does seem the authorities usually exacerbate the situation until they reach the point that they become violent. It looked to me in this case the vast majority of the violence was on the part of the authorities.

Who decides whether an assembly is lawful or not? I don't remember the First Amendment safeguarding the right to peaceful assembly until some bureaucrat decides he has had enough.

    Definitely going to turn ugly.

They wouldn't be very good protesters if they packed up as soon as the people they are protesting told them to leave. When I start something, it doesn't end until I say it does, in handcuffs or by my own free will. Both sides know what's going on. That's why the cops did a morning raid and showed up in riot gear and tear gas. So my heart goes out to whomever gets injured/killed, be it cop or protester, they are all caught up in the same struggle.

The protesters really need to keep doing the peaceful civil disobedience thing. They can only crack open the head of a peaceful person so many times before the rest of the 99% will tell them no.

The people these protests are against get to decide when it's lawful or not lawful.
