lotta cool stuff if you surf around this site, like tree octopi.

In the late 70's I saw, along with several other persons, a zuniqua. Look that one up.

I was once told that if you wanted to know what a woman is going to look like in 25 years.

    Just look at her mom.

A discussion of Cryptids belongs in the Tinfoil Hat Lounge, IMO. Other than that, I can gaurun-damn-tee you that there is such a thing as a Florida Skunk Ape. Seen, smelled and heard several in my lifetime. I grew up in the south eastern Glades. Spent more time stomping around and camping out in that swamp than sleeping in my own bed, in my youth. They are why I will NOT go in the Glades at ANY time of day or night unarmed - by that I mean at MINIMUM a pistol, machete, knife, shottie or high caliber rifle. Them and the gators, pythons (released pets that thrive and GROW), panthers, and two legged varmints.

What you're talking about here, IMO, are two different things. 1) Do creatures exsist that we haven't found yet? Of course. People, scientists find new species of plants, insects, animals, fish, etc all the time. 2) Does big foot exsist? Hell no. You can't have a reproductively sustainable number of giants ape-like creatures living in the United States without ever a single example being caught, shot, or found, period.

OK Let me assure you, reproductively sustainable populations of LARGE ape creatures (mountain gorillas) were in existence long before scientists "discovered" them. Don't try the "lack of fossil" or physical evidence slant either, because the very first chimpanzee fossils were not discovered until 2005, and apes of all sizes have been eaten by African tribes for thousands of years. The regions in which the large cryptids inhabit are equally unexplored, equally bio diverse, and equally large as the Congo. Overall, all scientists had to go on before they "discovered" great apes were eyewitness accounts and questionable remains, hides, scat, and tracks. These were of course marginalized simply because the persons gathering the accounts and evidence held themselves vastly more knowledgeable about the world than ignorant savages (rednecks/country bumpkins). This also applies to orangutans, bonobos, and chimpanzees.

Just sayin'. I may be a Florida Cracker, but I am not stupid. YMMV.

Sorry Falcon, it's not 1758 and the deepest jungles of Africa, we'ere talking about the United States and a sustainable population of giant apes living amongst us here, today, in modern society where hardly a stone hasn't been unturned. There are no Gorillas in the mist.

Chimpanzee fossils might not have been discovered until 2005 ( I have no idea if that is accurate or not but I'll roll with it) but dead chimpanzees could be found in the collessum in rome after epic battles between animals and slaves and what not so it's not like nobody knew about them until their fossils were discovered. If giant apes (sighted in every state of the country by the way) are all over the country, somebody would've found one in the last oh.... I don't know, three or four hundred years.

The worst part about these silly ape discussions is there is no proving what doens't exsist to the beleivers.

Maybe with the exposion of trail cams being used in the tens of thousands by hunters in every nook and cranny in the country I'll eventually be proved wrong eh? Wait a second... trails cams have been around for while now.. and still nada? Now I don't hold myself "vastly more knowledgeable" than everybody else, it's just common sense. Science if you will. You know Falcon...I have peppered a Black panther on the Sabine River with #6...at noon drinking water on a white sandbar...But they do not exist...So No harm ..No foul...
My brother has shot one in the azz out of an oak tree on McClouds land at N.Bearhead in Beauregard Parish...But since they don't exist...No harm...No foul...
and a word to the wise...Trail Cam's only catch about 10% of whats really out there...
Figure out your odd's based on the remaining 90%...
and as an added Bonus...I'll be glad to bring anyone into Black Panther Country...That does not exist...and let them spend the night...since they don't exist...Now as far as old bigfoot goes...Have not peppered his azz...yet...But i'm not above it...ccc

Scientists were ABSOLUTELY certain giant squids did not exist. Uh, well, gee. Humans had only been fishing the waters for thousands of years. Sailing deep water for literally half a thousand years, cameras have been in the water since the late 1950's, and never did solid proof exist until a Japanese scientist, who had been ridiculed for his passion, caught pictures of the animal then an actual specimen had been caught with a great deal of effort. A whole lot of very intelligent, highly experienced, very knowledgeable Marine Biologists ate crow on that day. Yet, all many scientists had to go on were eyewitness testimony and tales of giant sea monsters, for literally hundreds of years!

Also, there is nothing common about common sense. The older I get the less of it I see. You are confusing logic with common sense. A common mistake. Science, real science, is founded on hypotheses, that are either fully proven or disproved through thorough study, testing, application of the scientific method, and observation.

This kind of discussion is like a Global Warming discussion. I could show you literally hundreds of arguments - on both sides of the issue - as to the veracity of the Global Warming Theory. No solid conclusion has been reached yet. The same goes for any theory. If it is not scientific law, it has not been absolutely proven beyond a doubt.

Your beliefs are your own to hold and keep. I will not ridicule you for being short sighted enough to understand that literally millions of square miles of mapped territory have little to no human presence, and that a majority of the sightings occur on the fringes of these vast tracks of uninhabited, barely accessible, verdant land. Just because it is mapped, does not mean it has been explored, understood, or frequented with any regularity.

I would ask that you keep your "silly" comments to yourself. If you find a post ridiculous, or silly, just refrain from posting. It saves a lot of frustration and makes sure there are no ruffled feathers.

Let me put this into a SHTF perspective. When TSHTF, does any of us really think the existence of Sasquatch, the Yeti, Florida Skunk Apes, Ohio Grass-men, or any other cryptid will really matter? I mean really?

In the mean time, discussions like this are diversions. I don't ridicule people for being football fans. I don't watch the sport (I prefer baseball myself), I think the fans are a bit over the top, obsessive in many cases, and it goes beyond nominal (to me) reason the amount of passion they invest in the game. To each his own, however, in his pursuit of happiness. I would expect the same from a fellow member of this site. Thank you.
