Xbox posts record sales in Black Friday selling spree

    Posted by Brier Dudley

It really was a glossy Black Friday for Microsoft.

The company today said Xbox sales went crazy over the Thanksgiving holiday, making it the biggest week yet in the console's 10-year history.
Temporary price cuts of $50 to $100 helped sell more than 960,000 consoles in the U.S. last week, including 800,000 sold during a single 24-hour selling spree Friday.

The company also sold more than 750,000 Kinect sensors last week, according to Microsoft's internal data.
"Xbox 360 was among the best-sellers at Best Buy this Black Friday, and is a testament to the continued popularity of the gaming category this holiday," Chris Homeister, senior vice president and general manager of home entertainment at Best Buy, said in Microsoft's press release.
Those boxes will see a major software upgrade on Monday when Microsoft rolls out a new Xbox interface and new entertainment services.

Yep. A day at the range, using handloaded ammo, is maybe no cheaper, but much more satisfying and actually prepares us for what's coming.......

So...... hmmm..... new X-box game, or a new die set for my Lee Turret Press and some brass and bullets? No contest...... [stirpot]

    See ya at the range!

I spent the day on Black Friday doing some too-long put-off gun chores.
Refitted and Loc-tited the 2-7X LER scout scope on my Mosin 91/30 Hex.
Began stripping three twenty-two rifles to be refinished over the winter.
Installed a new scope on my CETME.
Prepped a hundred more 7.62X51 brass for loading.
Prepped 80 more 8mm Mauser brass for loading.
    Caught up on laundry.....

A heck of a lot more rewarding than fighting a ravening horde of greedy soccermoms getting junior's over-priced Christmas gift he won't appreciate anyway...... [LMAO]

On this point Sea, I heartily agree!

An X-Box face off with soccer Mom Sarah P at the Mall could get pretty damned ugly.....you just know she's going to be carrying, locked and loaded! : O

Yep, the sheeple are getting their brain functions slowed down even more and becoming more worthless by the day. Cranial rectal inversion in action if playing games is your main objective in life.

Well I have to play devils advocate here a little bit. Now I do not agree that anyone especially young children need to spend hours a day on Xbox, PlayStation,Wii etc etc.... It has been scientifically proven that video games do raise hand eye coordination , plus use critical thinking skills for puzzle solving etc etc. I am a gamer to some degree but am not mindless and usually only do it when its to dark, cold or I'm just to damn tired to physically exert myself.

The people I am referring to in my above post are the ones that play these game for hours every day with most of their free time. I would question the critical thinking skills, but don't have any scientific evidence one way or the other.

Only thing I did for the weekend sale crap was use a promo code from Amazon to download 2 songs for free, and placed an order for Schwan's since they had a $10 off promo(if you ordered $65 or more). Only 2 video game consoles I have are an original Nintendo(given to me by neighbors for free), and my PlayStation 2(also free, saved up 'points' for a year or so doing stuff online at Sony Rewards, wanted to get something for my mother, but they took what she wanted off their list so I got my PS2 as a birthday present for me)

Lets see, what did I do on Black Friday? Black Friday, hmmm. Oh yeah! I Loaded 100 rounds of 7.62x54, 100 rounds of 9mm. Played Scrabble with my daughter and wife. Watched Chronicles of Narnia, Voyage of the Dawn Treader with the family. Had fresh home made ice cream. Honestly, the only trip out in public I make on Black Friday, is to the road to set my garbage cans out for trash pickup on Saturday.
