   I just ordred the surge and it has an awl with thread loop similar to my Swiss Army Knife. My SOG just has an awl. Ive just used the awl as a drill for wood, but what are some other uses? How do you use the thread loop also? The tool seems too large for sewing.

   Awls is awls. For the thread loop, think canvas and sails, not petticoats.
