Anyone have any experience with this company and it's products? Thinking this could provide a reasonable solution for placing a system in the kitchen for recipe lookup, one in the garage for auto repair reference etc.

Looks like my OLD PDP11, when it was driving 10 Terminals running the VAX11 Software, only fronting Windoz, Now.... Not novel, but it is all true stuff... but what happens when the CPU Crashes.... You lose ALL the products that were open, when things went south, and any ONE Process can crash the main CPU OS, if your not careful.... On my Main workstation, (iMac, QuadCore i5, 24GB Main MEMORY, 10TB of Storage, two LCDs, (30" bottom, 24" top) I find that 35% on each core is about where I live most of the time. .... YMMV....

To be honest I had thought about that and decided it wasn't a major concern to me as the bulk of the time only the host PC would be in use. Rather than having multiple users on and doing things at once this is simply a way to give myself access points in multiple places without the need to carry around my laptop or take my laptop into dirtier working environments.

    My hex-core agrees with you.

I do 3D modelling using this machine so the power is needed.

I would refer you to LTSP and further urge you to use something like the Ubuntu Alternate Install CD to allow you to install to an encrypted volume. Your server then will not be bootable without entering a passphrase.

Thx for the reference. LTSP looks compelling as I'm all for secure, reliable, and FREE. I'd planned on something Linux based but I'm still examining options as this is something that is still in the rough planning stage.

Modern Drs offices use a system called NextGen (all hardware provided by the Fed) when they do a consult. It's a monitor, a small box the size of a deck of cards and an ethernet cord.

My thought when I saw it was that they were all jacked into a .gov mainframe, collecting data... I had my wife decline to answer the questions that had nothing to do with her reason for the visit. I'm sure that flagged me as a malcontent but oh well.

I don't know that I could function without remote desktop to either my server (here), my works systems or even my home systems.

    From QSii's (NextGen's owner) website:

Clearinghouses? I don't like the sound of that.
