    How long have you been using .270? How do you like it? A coworker of mine has been talking up .270 to me for a few years and I have been thinking about a Browning A-Bolt in .270. I mostly load my own ammo, so finding components would b my concern rather than finding the loaded ammo.

    My neighbor talks up his .270 too and apparently he hits what he aims at.

    Problem I have with it is I just paid 26 cents per round for my 5.56 and all that .270 stuff looks like about $1 per round. I just want to kill my target, not bless it.

    Well, there are times when a quarter just doesn't go far enough...

    Well again, I am loading my own, so it's not that big of a difference. Presumably less than loading for my .308.
    From what I understand the 270 is faster and lighter, so it has a more level arc?

    The 270 has excellent accuracy in a good bolt action rifle. It has a flat trajectory and good long range knock down power. What separates the 270 from the many others who have the same stuff is it's lack of recoil.

    I gathered a coffee can full of .270 brass awhile back - I use it and .30-06 to make my 8mm Mauser cases. Got no .270 or .30-06 rifles.
    I once looked long and hard at a beautiful Ruger No.1 singleshot in .270Win, but wasn't reloading or hunting at that time. Now, if I come across a good deal on a good rifle, I may be tempted..... but having a very good .308 rifle, it's a low priority.
    Hunting season is a boon for us reloaders here. Brass free for the taking in a variety of calibers.
    .243 makes good .308 too...... b::

    I have a .270 I bought in 1989 that I've never fired. I bought it for hunting antelope after I sold my .270 Weatherby Magnum, but, I lost interest the last time I went to Wyoming--being so far away from the game just wasn't my style. Even so, I haven't found anything that my .308 won't work for.

    .270 is an outstanding caliber. There was a famous write that took all of the North American big game with one, but I forget his name. It is very, very flat shooting. While it became famous with the 130 gr. Bullet, I really like the Hornady 140 grain. My model 700 .270 my dad bought me for Christmas when I turned about 14 has killed more whitetail than I can count. Previously I had a .222, and while accurate I sure had to track them. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
