So, it's new years eve, what are you folks doin to ring in the new year? I was up early getting the smoker fired up. I am cooking a venison roast and some racks of ribs. Low and slow. I have a home made BBQ chipotle sauce. Assorted wines from a local winery, some home brew, and a bottle of cognac. The wife is baking some goodies and fresh bread. I have a pile of pallets for the fire pit, I was hoping to keep the beer in an open cooler with snow packed in it. Since it is 48 degrees outside, I guess bon fire and sledding is out. Just the fire and the beers. Have some friends inbound for the evening and having a good ole country new year.
Too windy here for a BBQ... outside one that is... I got a nice little table top grill I like... big enough to make 8 1/2 burgers at one go... I gvuess our plan is to visit the daughter and grandbaby... see what their doing???
TV at home with a rum and coke. I am no longer interested in party mobs, or drunken drivers on the way home.
It is 51F with a projected high nearing 60 this afternoon... and I still have snow on the ground along the house and back fence line. I've got 2 bone in ribeyes salted and seasoned, some stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon set aside, and Guinness Black Lager on ice. The Mr will be firing up the grill in a bit. The drunk crazies were out last night and no doubt will be thicker this evening. We're just going to hang at the house.
I'm gonna try and capture the sound of all the ghetto gunfire on my camera and hope I don't get hit by a stray bullet. The hood sounds a lot like Baghdad on New Years Eve.
I'm with Ghrit on this one. TV and some Bacardi. It's amateur night round these parts. We will have fog to boot. The police, paramedics and life flight are going to busy. I'll not add to the mayhem.
It's just me and the wife we don't drink or care for crowds so we will just stay home off the streets. Going to grill some steaks kick back and let it happen. Hope all have a fun and safe night.
Momma and I, will do our annual fireworks and watch the Ball Drop at 8Pm local... We figure, us Old Folks, can do the East coast Feed on The Tube, and then go to bed.... ....... YMMV.....

Had a fresh turkey in a brining bucket overnight and getting ready to pull him out of the smoker in 15 minutes. He's been warming, smoking and roasting since 0830 PST. First time trying one on a Traeger pellet grill.
