    Via the National Geographic website:

Unique in their beliefs, motivations and strategies, explore the lives of four families preparing for the end of the world as we know it. From bunkers to fortified off-the-grid locations, these doomsday preppers will go to whatever lengths they can to make sure they are prepared for any of life’s uncertainties. And with our expert’s assessment, they will find out their chances of survival if their worst fears became a reality.

I guess I will have to watch and see if they are part of the TinFoil Hat Crowd, or Real Salt of the Earth Prep'ers... I just Hope they have their acts together... and do the LifeStyle Proud, but I am very Pessimistic about that eventuality... If they had ANY Brains about them, OpSec would not allow them to be on the Tube... .... TMMV....

Yup, they will certainly blow their cover if they are on TV (unless they have made the film with canvas bags over their heads). But I expect they got paid enough money to make it worth their while to lose their anonymity, d'ye think? What other reason could they possibly have to expose their preparations to the big bad world.....unless they are avid enough to want to "spread the movement" at the expense of their own wellbeing. Strange thing to do, though.

We can already pretty much guess what the "Expert Assessment" will consist of, no matter how well the 'preppers' are prepped. This is TV - reality has no place, only sensationalism.

I assume this is the show that Raw TV guy showed up on the forum trying to recruit cast members for.

I think this is a continuation of the same show from last year. The one where a guy in AZ converted his pool to a talipa pond. The same one were there were 2 "women" living together, one was on hormone pills and trying to get a gender change (from man to women) They had a hole in their roof and instead of fixing it continued to store canned goods (in the bathroom).

Show will be worth watching if you want a laugh.

Quigs, two of the guys on that original show are good solid folks, Engineer775 and SouthernPrepper1 from Youtube. There was less tinfoil and more "mockumentary" flavor to the original show IMO. It is a way to marginalize and mock preppers without coming outright and making fun of them.

Kckdrgn, what 2 women are you talking about? I have watched this show (the one Quigs posted) several times, never noticed them.

I just wanted to reply to WeeGrannyMush that I am one of the people who'll be featured on the new show, and nobody who was interviewed for the program was paid a single cent. I can't speak for the others, but I risked "op sec" not for any monetary reward, but because I figured my own op sec would be ever so much more improved if only everybody was doing what I'm doing. If EVERYONE has a stash of stuff when SHTF, then there's fewer people to come and grab my stuff. Therefore, I was trying to demonstrate easy ways for people to follow in my footsteps. Also, realistically speaking, if someone wanted to steal all my preps, they would need to have 12 strong men, 20 pick-up trucks, 682 rubbermaid containers, and 7 days in order to clear out my house. In the meantime, I've lived in my close-knit neighborhood for 20 years, and I'm going to have neighbors, friends, relatives, and tenants rallying to my defense.

No matter how hard you try, no matter what rooftop you preach the message from, 90+% of the people in this nation are either ignorant of or apathetic towards being prepared. Period. No matter how many shows you air, no matter what you think you can do, what percentage of the nation is seriously going to watch Doomsday Preppers over Monday Night Football or Dancing with the Stars?

The old saw holds true, keep it secret, keep it safe.
    OPSEC OPSEC OPSEC.

A large enough group of well armed, hungry, desperate folks won't care about stealing your stuff, after SHTF. They'll just kill you and your remaining neighbors and occupy your place.

These are the things you must think about. Especially if you have kids.

More power to you for doing the show. Even if I got offered a goodly amount of money I would never show my preps or reveal my BoL location. EVER.

I know for a fact - yes, fact -that there are individuals that join boards like this and watch youtube vids, and act the part of a prepper, but are actually well armed and not prepped beyond a few cases of water and MRE's. See, these folks (I have met one and heard from his own mouth his and his "groups" plans) plan on finding out where preppers are at, what they have, keep a list and TAKE what they want by force of arms. Marauders. Needless to say, his face has been etched into my memory and himself and anyone in his company will be shot on sight post SHTF.

Needless to say, I keep my OPSEC tight, used an assumed name (my screen name - Falcon) until trust has been built, and gave no details other than generalities. I simply do NOT trust ANYONE, and to expose yourself like this is, at best, naive, IMO.

An thus Falcon, I stock ammo. I stock it cheap & I stock it deep. I stock it until I have enough to wear out the barrels of every gun I own. Then I stock spare Gun Barrels & start stocking More Ammo!!!

Post-SHTF Any who come to me & are not known to me will be sent on their way, willingly or surrounded by lead. As well as quite a few that are known to me. Any who come FOR me will pay a price in blood they may not wish to pay. I can not hold off against the world, but as a good Prepper, I'm Prepared to make the taking of what I have for me & mine VERY damn Expensive!!

I watched the episode last night on youtube. The first group was the same that was on a simlarly named show last year. It was that show that had the 2 ladies I was referencing. It looks like they (NatGeo) took that show and improved, slightly.

It was an interesting show, didn't stress the "crazyness" like the first one did. Just what I need to help reenergize my families prepping.

I was watching another show this week, "Moonshiners" was the name, I think. And as the name implies, some good ol' boys were making some mountain dew.

I have no idea how they hope to evade prosecution by being on this show.

They are very likely to be well know in their local area...one old shiner, Popcorn, who recently passed, had spent decades behind bars, but never stopped shinin'

If Virginia ABC is to be believed the show isn't real at all. Now I'm not so niave as to think the state wouldn't lie to cover it's own ass, but there are so many ways to legally produce shine that it's become quite the chore for revenuers to enforce the law. Short of being caught transporting or selling you are pretty much golden if you've got the proper permits (cheap and easy to obtain from the feds) to produce ethanol for personal fuel uses.
